Manchester United vs Chelsea live updates: Premier League team ...

It was a pretty disappointing result for a much-changed Chelsea at Newcastle in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday as they were beaten 2-0 at St James' Park.
The visitors conceded twice in four chaotic first-half minutes via Alexander Isak and an Axel Disasi own goal, both involving poor defending, saw Newcastle take a lead they would not let slip.
Joao Felix missed a host of chances, too.
After the match, The Athletic's Liam Twomey wrote that Chelsea's second string failing their first real test will give boss Enzo Maresca food for thought. Read that piece here.

Before United played, and beat, Leicester under the stewardship of Ruud van Nistelrooy, The Athletic's Carl Anka wrote a tactical guide to the former PSV boss.
But what have we learned from the entertaining 5-2 win on Wednesday?
Casemiro has more technical and creative licence than one might expect of a 32-year-old defensive midfielder.
What else? He prefers Marcus Rashford on the right and Alejandro Garnacho on the left wing - though both are encouraged to drift and swap - and he gets the crowd involved.
How he interacts with the fans and the officials will be interesting if a big decision goes against them today...

After this weekend's round of matches, the Premier League season will be 10 games in and the league table will have started to 'take shape'.
As The Athletic's Mark Carey writes, there is an understanding that the standings don't truly reflect what lies ahead until we reach double figures. It might seem arbitrary, but it does have merit.
Here is how and why.

Old Trafford Stadium, Greater Manchester, England
Opened back in 1910, 114 years ago, its capacity is 74,310, making it the second largest stadium in the UK after Wembley in London.
The atmosphere was a little muted at the start of the midweek Carabao Cup win against Leicester City (more on that later), but by the end the fans were vociferously backing interim Ruud van Nistelrooy.
He'll doubtless be aiming to get them in full voice later to give them a boost at home against today's visitors.
In the tea-time slot for those in the UK, the match starts at 4.30pm GMT local time, which works out as 11.30am EDT and 8.30am PDT for those across the pond in the United States.
Hello everyone and let me introduce you to The Athletic.
Today, we're covering Manchester United vs Chelsea in the Premier League, as permanent manager-less United welcome another former titan of English football to Old Trafford.
Ruud van Nistelrooy continues as interim manager after the sacking of Erik ten Hag, while the Enzo Maresca era at Chelsea is still pretty young as well.
