Erik ten Hag has selected his Manchester United side to face Barnsley in the Carabao Cup third round.

The Old Trafford tie, which kicks off at 20:00 BST, must be decided on the night and will go straight to penalties, if level after 90 minutes.

However, the Reds will hope to clinch a second successive victory, following the impressive 3-0 win at Southampton at the weekend and the boss has selected a strong line-up, despite a raft of alterations.

The manager has made eight changes from Saturday's game at St Mary's Stadium and hands a first start, and home appearance, to summer signing Manuel Ugarte.

The Uruguay international could partner Toby Collyer in midfield, as the youngster is included in an XI for the first time in his senior career.

Altay Bayindir makes his second first-team outing for the club, with his other game coming in the Emirates FA Cup win at Newport County last season.

Jonny Evans came on at left-back at the weekend and may continue in the role, while Antony is drafted in to play on the right wing and Marcus Rashford moves into a central attacking position.

Casemiro is tipped to line up in the heart of the defence, alongside Harry Maguire, and captains the team. There is the possibility of the positions being shuffled around so we will confirm the exact nature of the XI once the action gets under way.

THE TEAMS
