De Bruyne snaps his hamstring

Kevin De Bruyne faces a fight to prove his fitness ahead of next season after snapping his hamstring as City completed the Treble.

The 32-year-old was forced off before half-time of the final in Istanbul and is going for tests to ascertain the extent of the damage this week.

De Bruyne – out of international duty with Belgium - could risk further damage if he were to return too quickly, with recovery for the most severe problem taking up to three months.

More from Jack Gaughan below.

Carson corrects a fan

Scott Carson has bitten back at a fan who said the goalkeeper managed his second Champions League win without playing a minute.

Carson lifted his second trophy last night - 19 years after the first - without featuring in this year's competition, having won the title in 2005 with Liverpool.

He did, in fact, play that year, featuring in the quarter-final of the competition against Juventus, playing the full 90 minutes of the first leg.

City's stars head for the airport

The City flight home takes off soon and the players are on their ways to the airport. They can't have had much sleep.

Ederson and Erling Haaland have been sinking the beers on the way as the celebrations continue, as they will for many more days one would imagine.

Check out more below.

City heading home

The treble winners will take off from Turkey later today to land back in England ahead of their parade.

The club-liveried Etihad jet will leave Istanbul at 2:30pm Turkish time - 12:30pm here - and land at around 4:30pm English time.

Guardiola 'didn't need' to win the Champions League - Ferdinand

Rio Ferdinand has suggested that Pep Guardiola didn't need to win the Champions League to cement his status as one of the greatest managers ever.

The Spaniard has now won the title three times, alongside countless other trophies in his career, and he's still only 52.

High praise from a man that played under Sir Alex Ferguson for so many years.

08:48

Grealish celebrates

One of the greatest stories from last night is around Jack Grealish, who celebrated into the night in Istanbul as he likes to do.

Here he is, all smiles, cap on back to front, captured by our own Lewis Steele.

06:47

City now one of the heavyweights

Manchester City captain Ilkay Gundogan has insisted that his side must now be considered one of the world's heavyweight clubs.

'It's a really proud moment, amazing,' Gundogan said. 'This team deserves the highest recognition and winning the Champions League elevates us to the very top of the game.

'We have wanted to win this trophy for so long. The Treble is the ultimate achievement for any club team, and we have done it.'

More from Jack Gaughan in Istanbul below.

A live look into the celebrations...

It's been been about seven hours since City lifted the Champions League, and it's now past 7am local time in Istanbul. But the celebrations are evidently still going strong, judging by these photos Erling Haaland has just posted on his Instagram story.

Thierry Henry hilariously claims he would have no problems taking on Kyle Walker after being quizzed by Jack Grealish after Man City's Champions League triumph

Saturday was about Manchester City's 1-0 win over Inter Milan, but Jack Grealish briefly turned the focus on Thierry Henry after the match.

Grealish and teammate Kyle Walker were being interviewed by a CBS Sports panel consisting of Henry, Jamie Carragher, Micah Richards and host Kate Abdo when the city winger wondered how Henry would fare against the defender.

Sir Alex Ferguson sent Pep Guardiola a 'touching' message ahead of the Champions League final

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola revealed he had received a touching message from Sir Alex Ferguson before emulating the legendary Man United manager by winning a historic Treble.

Man City added the Champions League to the Premier League and FA Cup by beating Inter Milan 1-0 on Saturday night.

Afterwards Guardiola said: 'It’s an honour for me to be alongside Sir Alex Ferguson. I got a message from him this morning. It touched me. It was nice.'

Inside Man City's Treble party: Jack Grealish sings Fleetwood Mac while drinking a beer and Erling Haaland poses with the Champions League trophy

Manchester City's Champions League title celebrations are in full-swing and look set to go on long into the evening as players popped open beers at 2am and Jack Grealish showed off his karaoke skills.

City stars are set for a long night of partying in Istanbul after beating Inter Milan 1-0 at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium to lift the club's first Champions League title and become only the second English team in history to secure the treble.

Pep Guardiola and his players had to navigate their way past a difficult Inter side that tested their resolve, however victory inside 90 minutes ensured victorious players have plenty of time to hit the Turkish city in celebration.

Some more Mail Sport coverage for you to sink your teeth into

A present fit for a President

Up in the luxury suites, Erdogan has been gifted a Man City scarf by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, his opposite number in the UAE, and brother of City's owner Sheikh Mansour - who incidentally picked an excellent moment to attend his first match in 13 years.

Man City's owner Sheikh Mansour hasn't watched his team since 2010 - until this evening

23:37

Inter beat Man City on shots and shots on target

The stats from this evening's clash make interesting reading, and speak to the tightness of this competition. Guardiola wasn't far off when he called it a 'coin toss' - Simone Inzaghi's team will feel extremely bruised.

City's total of seven shots is dwarfed by Inter's 13, and the Italians had five on target to Man City's four.

Inter had a good crack at breaking up Man City's crushing possession stats: the champions could only claim 56 per cent to Inter's 44 per cent.

Superior shot metrics will not turn those medals to gold

23:32

JACK GAUGHAN: John Stones has gone from Man City outcast to indispensable in the club's Treble tilt

Other than actually navigating a way into this stadium, the toughest assignment in Istanbul over the last three days has been going anywhere without hearing the names John and Stones, writes Lewis Steele.

Along Nevizade Sokak, the 24-hour street down the road from Taksim Square, they sang for him as raw fish dangled from mouths, while flares filled the air and fans draped over friends that had gone unencountered for ages.

Those in blue over here were not regularly chanting about Erling Haaland or Kevin De Bruyne, but Man City's defence – and the man from Barnsley who has transformed the way in which Pep Guardiola can control opposing matches. John Stones: inescapable.

Erling Haaland looks forward to 'developing more'

'Unbelievable. This is my wildest dreams, I would never think of this as 22 year old me. But it shows that it's possible for a guy from a small town in Norway. I hope this gives hope to other young people.

'Having good people you can trust is even more important nowadays. To have this with my father and mother is incredible. I'm so happy.

On ambition: 'I think after a couple of days, when this settles a bit, this feeling of winning this trophy, I'll want to do it again. I know myself... this is how i think.

On room for improvement: 'I can improve a lot. Today is a difficult game, I was close a couple of times, I had a good chance

'Second half, it was really close from Phil. On a good day, I could have scored two goals, but in the end, I really don't care about that right now.

'It's about performing as a team, and to get the trophy.'

On working with Guardiola: '(He's) really emotional. Same for me as well. It's such a big game, you know, the pressure is unbelievable. But to work with him is really special. We have a good relationship.

'I really look forward to next season to developing even more.

'To be getting trained by him every single day, the best coach of the day, it's a good position to be in.'

23:18

Cold comfort for Inter

This will be a difficult result for Inter to swallow - even if losing to the Man City is no embarrassment. But their game plan was, for large swathes of the match, successful, and particularly when it came to muzzling Grealish and Haaland.

Lukaku - so often the receipient of scarcely-believable luck at close range - had a particularly unfortunate run-out in Istanbul.

Lukaku came achingly close but failed to change the game for Inter

23:06

A muted night for Haaland

Haaland was no dud, with a number of fine runs and some good unselfish play, but the Norwegian behemoth failed to provide his difference-making firepower in a match that was begging to be split wide open by his uncontrollable quality.

Worryingly, his goal drought goes on for a fifth game - which is hard to write with a straight face. But that will matter not a jot. For the man who had the Champions League anthem as his alarm tone, a long-held dream has been achieved.

Regardless of his numbers in the final, Haaland has played an enormous role in Man City's treble.

Quite the season for the young Premier League debutant

22:58

More swearing on live television! Guardiola is the latest, overjoyed, offender

How are you feeling? 'Tired. Calm. Satisfied. This f*****g trophy is so difficult to win it.

'This competition is a coin (mimes coin toss) but we were there, and I think this was written in the stars - it belongs to us.

Why is this City team so good? 'I think we defend a little bit better in the box. Even when we make mistakes, you have a feeling that we are more solid.

Man City vs Inter - Figure 7
Photo Daily Mail

'It was not our best performance, and we knew it. And perhaps if we are lucky, we will come back in the future and it will be (good)

On what can be achieved next: 'Right now, I don't have any energy to think about the next season!'

Does this trophy know how Guardiola talks about it behind its back?

22:48

Celebrations show no sign of stopping at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium

22:45

They don't know it yet, but it's a treble-winner!

They may not be at the Ataturk itself, but these fans in Istanbul turned the air blue (metaphorically) at the sight of Rodri's inch-perfect strike.

22:41

Kevin De Bruyne: my hamstring 'snapped'

De Bruyne shares that his hamstring 'snapped', something that has been troubling him over the last 'two months'.

But the Belgium is still in the party spirit, full of high praise for his team-mates: 'It's amazing. We've been working so long for this, and to be part of this...

'We've not lost in the Champions League, so I think we deserve this.

On the treble: 'Obviously, it's huge, because the amount of games you have to play, and the consistency you need is high.'

Big party tonight? 'Oh yeah. People have no idea (what we're doing), but it's going to be more than one day, I guess.

22:38

More chatting, more crying: this time, John Stones and Kyle Walker

First up, John Stones: 'It was the thing we were missing. I feel so pleased to be part of this time, to create this history.

'I'm holding words back, because i'm on camera!

'We've set the bar high now! Honestly, after this season, from where we were in the Premier League, to bring it back, to come here on such a difficult night. Honestly, i can't put it into words.

Man City vs Inter - Figure 8
Photo Daily Mail

'I played more of a No 8 today, which I loved. I don't think I'm the best in there, but I gave it my everything! I thought it paid off, we created some chances.

On tonight's party: 'I don't know. I honestly don't know, I think I've got doping (testing), so it's a great start to my night!'

Next, we've got Kyle Walker, also on the brink of tears.

'I'm over the moon. I'm very rarely speechless, but my dream's just come true. To achieve this with this club, for everything they've done for us over the years... it's incredible.'

Walker shared that he gave his side a talk before kick-off, telling his team-mates: 'My dreams are in your hands!'

Some motivation, clearly.

We Are the Champions pounds around the Ataturk Olympic Stadium

Guardiola's eyes glitter with tears as the his side start singing along to Queen, before making their way to the City end. Kevin De Bruyne treats them to a trophy lift.

On the pitch, BT Sport catches up with Ilkay Gundogan.

'It's an unbelieavble night. We are so happy. It's difficult to put everything in words, what just happened.

'I think today, we made history.

'It's a Champions League final, so it was going to be difficult for both teams. We weren't on our best in the first half, we were hesitating. We knew we had to do better. I think it's what we did, but it was probably a 50-50 game.

'We feel very fortunate that it was for us.'

Has it sunk in? 'No, it didn't! It's just a few minutes after the final whistle. We knew that everyone was talking about the treble, especially after the FA Cup final. The pressure was there, but this team is built to handle the pressure.'

Man City vs Inter - Figure 9

Des Kelly then gets his press access armband signed by the captain.

Gundogan has contributed so much to this Man City side - it must be sobering to City fans that this is likely to be his last match in sky blue. But what a way to go out.

22:19

MAN CITY ARE CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE!

Pep Guardiola is first past the trophy, an old friend he hasn't seen since 2011, trailed by his players, who caress or kiss the silverware.

All eyes on Scott Carson, who received a winner's medal on the bench for Liverpool in 2005 in the same stadium!

Gundogan is last, picking up the trophy and eyeing it almost disbelievingly... but it's his! And he holds it aloft! Cue the fireworks, and the Champions League anthem, likely never to booed in the blue side of Manchester ever again.

22:15

Inter solemnly accept their runner up medals

On removal watch: almost all are keeping them on, rather than following the England Euro 2020 craze of immediately snatching them off lest players be accused of lacking ambition.

22:12

Here comes the trophy

This time, wearing sky-blue ribbons. They've come this close to the trophy before, but the ribbons were of a different hue.

Man City and the coaching staff line up to give the refereeing team a guard of honour, before they receive their medals.

An analog final, with no VAR intervention - how quaint. When was the last time we saw that?

22:08

Next up, Jack Grealish

The England star is on the verge of tears, and has trouble speaking, but manages: 'I don't know, this is just... what you've waited your whole life for, isn't it. I'm so happy.

Man City vs Inter - Figure 10
Photo Daily Mail

'I was awful, but I don't care. To win the treble with this group of players is so special. Everyone that knows me knows I'm a family person, and I love football, but this is something i've worked for my whole life.'

A lot of brutal assessments on their performances, which is... honest. Grealish goes on to say that he went over to Guardiola to 'thank him', calling him a 'genius'.

He's self-conscious about the fact that 'he spent a lot of money on (him)' and that he was 'c**p last year'. But that's all forgotten now!

Just two friends and team-mates, entirely overwhelmed

22:06

Rodri speaks to BT Sport

'I'm emotional. This is a dream come true. All these guys deserve, all these guys around here, waiting 20, 30, 40 years.

'It wasn't easy. What a team we faced. The way they defend (and play).

'But I don't want to forget about my lads.

'I wasn't playing good in the first half, I was playing s**t to be honest.

'Finals are like this. We didn't expect to play well like always, emotions are there, nerves are there.

'Some of these guys are 21, 22, first finals.

'I think we made history. But the good thing is we will win more. The thing about this project is we have ambition.'

22:01

Once, twice, three times a Champion!

It wasn't perfect, but it was enough - Rodri's goal was gem-like, and full of fire, and Ederson was heroic from the spot, but lucky too. Inter gave it their all, and went some way to putting off their opponents, but their lack of clincal edge proved the difference.

Jack Grealish is weeping, and he's not the only one!

21:56

MANCHESTER CITY HAVE WON THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE AND CLINCHED THE TREBLE!

Man City vs Inter - Figure 11
Photo Daily Mail

Inter fling themselves forward, stuffing themselves into the box, and win a corner. On the sidelines, Inzaghi tussles with his own assistant coach, full of pent up nerves.

Dimarco sends it in, and Gosens gets his head to it - and Ederson pulls of yet another save!

Moments later, the whistle blows - THEY'VE DONE IT!

21:55

90+4 minutes

Inter win a freekick to the right of goal, which is first knocked back by Dias, before Barella comes within inches from far out. Sharp intake of breath around the stadium.

Onana runs out of his goal to take Inter's neck, but the long ball flies straight into a leaping Ederson's gloves.

Boy, does he lie on top of that ball.

21:53

90+2 minutes

Deep breaths, everyone.

Foden is pulled down and wins Man City a freekick halfway inside the Inter half. Guardiola's side look peppy and full of energy, whereas Inter are very much on the back foot after that bamboozling passage of play.

Onana and Haaland pick up matching yellow cards for a brief, contained shoving match.

21:51

89 minutes

Gosens sends a heavy cross across the box, but the ball finds its way in eventually, with Brozovic cutting the ball back to his team-mate to feed Lukaku. His header is bulleted down and looks undeniable but somehow, Ederson makes the save!

It comes off his kneecap, but a stop is a stop - more unhappiness for Inter, who have come so close, and Lukaku in particular.

Moments later, the Chelsea loanee tries to redeem himself, but his touch sends the ball just skimming past the far. post.

Five minutes left to play.

Man City vs Inter - Figure 12
Photo Daily Mail

21:48

87 minutes

Inter fluff their next attack, Mkhitaryan sending a wild ball skirting out of play. But they get another chance winning back possession with a freekick just inside their half.

Inzaghi's side will have to show a lot more guts as things stand to keep pace with Man City.

21:45

84 minutes

Another yellow goes Inter's way, this one destined for Lukaku, who launched himself at Gundogan.

The pause in play allows for some more Inter changes, Darmian leaving for D'Ambrosio, and Calhanoglu for Mkhitaryan.

Roughly ten minutes, with added time as things stand, until the final whistle. Nervous, Man City fans?

21:43

82 minutes

Silva whips in the inswinging freekick straight to the gloves of Onana. But there's more drama in the build up, after Stones goes down and winds up with a huge rip in his shirt. In a little pain, by the looks of things, Stones' exit means that Walker, who has been waiting on the sidelines, can finally come on.

21:41

80 minutes

After a sticky corner that Inter do little with, Barella sets hearts racing with a long-range strike from 25 yards out, the shot only just clearing the bar.

Acerbi lays into Silva as he sets off barrelling down the right, handing Man City all but level with the right corner flag.

21:38

77 minutes

Foden nearly makes it 2-0 streaking in from the left to pummel the ball at Onana, whilst Haaland draws Acerbi away from the challenge. The Inter goalkeeper pulls off a brilliant save under fire.

Man City vs Inter - Figure 13

21:36

75 minutes

Bastoni comes off for Gosens, and Dumfries exits for Bellanova.

21:34

73 minutes

Sneaking in from the right, Lukaku whips a shot at Ederson at the near post, but his shot isn't the cleanest, and the City keeper makes a routine save.

21:32

70 minutes

Inter nearly equalise a minute later! Frankly unbelievable that Inter are behind, with Dimarco springing to pull off a header that just kisses the crossbar, and when it falls back to him, he dives to header the ball a second time, and still can't get it over the line!

Lukaku's heel provided the crucial block, whilst Akanji was all over the Chelsea loanee. Keystone Kops-esque.

21:30

GOAL! Rodri's ice cold finish puts City on the brink of history (68')

A moment of pure quality to send Man City ahead! Akanji feeds a delicious ball down the line to Silva level with the goal line. The Portugal international cuts back to a perfect square of space in the middle of the box, and Rodri sprints onto it to deliver an inch-perfect finish!

City have scored for the first time in a Champions League final - what other new ground can they break?

21:27

66 minutes

As with the last half, neither team has done much to distinguish themselves, but Inter will be the happier. Martinez's chance was the sharpest yet, and Inzaghi's side are still yet to tire.

Bastoni keeps a cool head to bat back a serious threat from Foden, looking to pierce through the penalty area from the left, saving me from having delete the previous sentence.

Man City vs Inter - Figure 14

21:26

64 minutes

Man City win a corner after moments earlier losing their cool as Inter sent the ball bobbling around the Manchester side's penalty area. City broke quickly, and are rewarded with a set piece for Grealish to take.

Stones brings down Bastoni - a slight overstatement - and after the corner comes to nowt, Inter have the freekick.

21:23

62 minutes

Man City lose possession again en route to the final third, Haaland gifting Inter the ball to edge closer and closer into City territory. Dimarco chips the ball forward to Martinez, but he's set upon quickly, and pushed back.

21:20

59 minutes

Man City nearly have calamity at the back after communication with Ederson and Akanji totally breaking down. Martinez powers onto it, and forces Ederson into a save at the near post, leaving Lukaku hanging in prime position at the top of the box.

Guardiola, in Guardiola fashion, collapses to his knees.

But there's reason to be cheerful after Barella fouls Foden and picks up the first yellow of the match, winning an opportune freekick. Dias gets onto the delivery, but his header skies the bar.

21:18

57 minutes

Dzeko goes down with cramp, but Lukaku won't be caught unawares - he's ready for action on the sidelines, and the Belgian is Inzaghi's first substitute.

21:16

55 minutes

Stones sets off well, forging a path towards the top of the box, but he slips a little laying off his shot. He's well-supported by team-mates, but there's Inter players all over the City attack, and Foden loses out, handing possession back to his opponents.

Man City vs Inter - Figure 15
Photo Daily Mail

They waste no time sprinting up the pitch, with Calhanoglu sending in a serviceable strike, but it's blocked out well.

21:14

53 minutes

Dimarco goes charging up the left, setting up Barella, who in turns feed Martinez, but Gundogan gets his own back by upturning Martinez just inside the Man City half. Inter can't claim a freekick, and City have their own a moment later after Grealish is much less cleverly challenged.

Foden overcooks his ball 25 yards off, which flies out of play.

21:12

51 minutes

Onana wobbles on the ball and sends it out to a questing Silva. But Acerbi comes to his keeper's rescue and forces Man City back, if only a little.

Gundogan tries to spark play forward, but Calhanoglu leaps merrily into a challenge with the Man City captain that leaves him lying on the floor.

21:09

49 minutes

Play halts after Dimarco backs into Silva looking to fight for the header and goes down heavily. He looks like he'll live.

As Rob said in his half-time thoughts, Inter will have fun disrupting rhythm anyway they can.

Inter force Man City back into their own half as Dzeko bears down on Akanji, earning himself a little flurry of applause from his manager.

21:08

47 minutes

No changes from either manager, after City's forced change in the first half. On the sidelines, the Inter substitutes, including Lukaku, start warming up, preparing for the inevitable change of legs. Inter have been playing so much energy, it will be interesting to see how long they can manage with the after burners on.

Man City vs Inter - Figure 16

Silva boots the ball up the pitch to try and force an attack, but Bastoni knocks it straight back.

21:06

Second half

Inter are out first, while Guardiola draws his players into a final huddle in the tunnel before they stream back out onto the pitch.

City get us underway for a ferocious 45-or-so minutes.

21:00

Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour spotted watching the Champions League final in Istanbul

Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour has been spotted at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium watching his side face Inter Milan in the Champions League final.

Mansour, the vice-president of the United Arab Emirates, flew out to Turkey on Saturday morning and attended the game later in the day.

Mansour - who has only watched one competitive fixture since buying the club in 2008 - was pictured sitting next to Khaldoon Al Mubarak, the club's Chairman.

Kyle Walker will be 'absolutely fuming' and his 'blood will be boiling' after the Man City star was snubbed

Rio Ferdinand said that Kyle Walker's 'blood will be boiling' after being left out of Manchester City's Champions League final starting 11.

Walker is benched by Pep Guardiola, in the only change from the team that beat Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley a week ago.

Ferdinand told BT Sport: 'He will be absolutely fuming... inside, I can imagine, the blood will be boiling. He's been integral to them getting here.'

Mail Sport's Rob Draper shares his half-time thoughts

Man City vs Inter - Figure 17

The Stones experiment is more extreme tonight. He’s playing 10-15 metres ahead of Rodri. This presumably to cope with a midfield five and give Inter a problem to solve. City were essentially playing 3-1-3-3 with Stones in the midfield three alongside De Bruyne and Gundogan. I guess Pep sees that as a better area to win the numerical advantage against a five man midfield than playing alongside Rodri as a holding midfielder.

Inter seem noticeably slow to restart on throw-ins, corners. Almost like they don’t want a free-flowing game. It’s a really scrappy, low-quality game at the moment – which suits Inter perfectly.

That’s pretty much everything Inter wanted from the first half. And a terrible game to boot

The first half perhaps not a classic of the genre

20:52

Half-time

It's been a nervy half, full of edge and tactical machinations, but with little in the way of real attacking firepower. Man City have had classy flashes, but will have been caught off-guard by Inter's tempo and ability to shatter their careful rhythms.

De Bruyne's exit - what a loss. At least he made it to the second half in Porto.

20:49

45+2 minutes

Akanji has a fun and funky shot from 20 yards out which takes on too much air en route to Onana's goal.

The Inter keeper winds up for a final goal kick, but there's little from it except the whistle - 45 down, 45 to go!

20:47

45 minutes

We'll have two added minutes before team talks and orange slices.

20:46

43 minutes

When Man City do begin to probe around the edge of the penalty area, Inter stuff up the box, and City are having a difficult time wading through. Grealish attempts to skirt around the box, but he's set upon by Dumfries and eventually pulled down.

Man City vs Inter - Figure 18

A fine opportunity for a Man City freekick level on the left with the penalty area. Foden boots it over the box, but Rodri does battle with Martinez and accidentally backheels the ball out for a goalkick.

20:42

40 minutes

Dias feeds Foden, who sets up a dancing Silva on the right, but Inter steam into the challenge and shut down their threat on the right.

Acerbi goes down after a featherlight interaction with Foden, but Inter pick up the goalkick.

20:40

37 minutes

That said, Man City's depth is awe-inspiring. Foden is a diamond-studded substitute to have in your arsenal (sorry).

Calhanoglu lifts the ball over the pack to Barella high up on the right, which the Italy international pulls down well, but he's pushed back by Ake. Inter hold their nerve, however, and keep hold of possession.

20:37

35 minutes

I can't believe it. Kevin De Bruyne will watch another Champions League final from the sidelines.

He holds up his hand, emotion written on his face. This is one enormous fly in Guardiola's ointment. Fans in the stands look gutted. What a disappointment for the player, who has been revelatory for Man City this season.

Foden makes his way onto the pitch.

20:35

33 minutes

Haaland is tumbled by Calhanoglu as Inter swipe back possession, surely looking to capitalise on this unexpected change in mood.

But City edge forward again, going slow as Inter press tighter and tighter.

20:33

31 minutes

On the side, Foden has warmed up and put his shirt on - but De Bruyne has jogged back on.

He's taking it slow, as things stand.

Buoyed up, De Bruyne makes a long-range effort from just outside the area, but it's a simple save from Onana. Grealish almost replicates Haaland's attempt moments earlier, to similar results - in a matter of moments, momentum has almost entirely shifted.

But there's an issue on the pitch - De Bruyne has sat down. Medics sprint onto the pitch. If Man City were to lose De Bruyne, as they did in 2021, there could be seismic consequences.

Barella, halfway inside the City half, spots Ederson straying off his line and has a not-imperfect punt that almost troubles the keeper. On the sidelines, Guardiola motions for his players to calm down - they're the less-settled side as things stand.

But quick as flash, Man City turn it on, scything through the Inter midfield, before De Bruyne sets up Haaland on the left inside the penalty area. He leathers the ball at Onana, who makes a fine save, and City can't come up with something better before De Bruyne hoofs the ball out of play.

Ake prepares to mount a City attack from the backline, but Inter are making it difficult for their opponents to push out of their half.

Grealish looks to find a way through on the left, but he's quickly skittled by Barella for a freekick.

Dimarco sneaks the ball to Brozovic, who speeds to the edge of the D and fires at Ederson, his rushed attempt clearing the crossbar by some distance.

Calhanoglu has the ball swiped by Akanji as Man City attempt to put together a string of possession and steady their rhythm. Inter have been extremely efficient off the ball, and it's City who look flustered now in front of goal, as a ball falls nicely for Grealish and he misfires, with none of his team-mates able to come to his rescue in the box.

The sun might have set in Istanbul, but sweat is pouring off the players already.

Grealish breaks down the left to pick off a clever short pass from Haaland, but he has to battle past Acerbi, who tries to muscle him off the ball by the corner flag. De Bruyne digs his team-mate out, but a good defensive showing from Inter hands them a throw-in, not the marauders in sky blue.

Martinez picks up the ball 20 yards off Ederson's goal, and Dias is forced to bully him off the ball before he can do any damage. Inter have settled nicely, and have the opportunity to flood forward again from another long Dumfries throw.

Dimarco barrels down the left, before sending a whippy cros rightwards looking for Barella. Man City lock up, but Inter have their first corner to try something new - but it's taken short and dealt with briskly by the Manchester side.
