Former City of Cape Town Housing Mayco member Malusi Booi was granted R250 000 bail in the Cape Town Magistrate's Court on Tuesday in a case in which he has been charged in connection with R1bn housing tender fraud.
The amount was more than the R200 000 the State suggested.
Magistrate Alida Theart also granted bail to his co-accused. Suraya Manual was granted R150 000 bail, Abdul-Kader Davids R250 000, Mohammed Amod R250 000, Randall Mullins R250 000, Brenda Mullins R250 000, Thuli Imgibi R25 000, Nomvuyo Mnyaka R25 000, Lorna Ndoda R25 000 and Siphokazi September R25 000.
They were warned not to contact witnesses, or leave their home province without contacting the investigating officer and providing everything required for cross-province travel.
Mnyaka, who is Booi's ex-wife, was denied permission to travel outside South Africa for work because she did not supply anything to prove that travel was required for her job.
The accused are charged with money laundering.

At their next court appearance, construction company owner Nicole Johnson and her husband Ralph Stanfield are expected to be joined to the case.
Johnson owns Glomix, one of the companies focused on in the investigation.

In a cross-over, Booi was added to their case last week, which includes allegations relating to the murder of City official Wendy Kloppers outside a housing project that was under construction.
