The family of the ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘Downtown Abby’ star announced that she spent her last day at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, in the United Kingdom.

Her two sons, Tobey Stephans and Chris Larkin, say Smith’s soul departed peacefully, surrounded by her family and friends.

“An intensely private person, she was with friends and family at the end,” they explain.

Smith was survived by her two sons, and five grandchildren, who are reported to be devastated by the loss of their mother and grandmother.

Her career commenced in theatre, affording the veteran actress her first Bafta nomination for the 1958 melodrama, ‘Going to Nowhere’.

She also received two Oscars for the 1970 Prime of Miss Brodie and 1979’s California Suite.

Smith became a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire and was therefore widely and affectionately known as Dame Maggie Smith.

The two-time Oscar award-winning actor’s fans remember her as an actress who managed to achieve peak fame even in her senior years and a creative with the ability to maintain longevity. Written by Odirile Rabolao
