Lusikisiki mass shooting

CAPE TOWN  -The police's top brass say while they have made several arrests in connection with the Lusikisiki massacre, one suspect is still at large.

The police ministry and management briefed the media on the Lusikisiki case in Parliament on Thursday.

The briefing comes after four more suspects linked to the murders of 18 people at Ngobozana village two weeks ago were nabbed on Wednesday.

"We still have one of the suspects that is at large..he is still on the run, but we were able to retrieve or confiscate his vehicle and that is how far we are with the investigation," said National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola.

Masemola said investigations continue, with a possibility of more arrests.

"We've cast the investigation widely. We are still looking at possibilities of linking other people to this specific case," said Masemola.

Meanwhile, police said they're still searching for the firearms used in the Lusikisiki shootings.

"We've not yet recovered firearms...we are on track looking for firearms, together with the one suspect that is still on the run, so we are also looking for the firearms that were used in the shooting," said Masemola.

The suspects will appear at the Lusikisiki Magistrates Court on Friday.
