'Lucho is looking sharp and fresh'

The Colombian returned to the pitch during the final weeks of 2022-23 having missed the majority of the campaign due to a knee issue.

After scoring against Greuther Furth last Monday, Diaz featured for the second half of Sunday’s 4-0 victory over Leicester City in Singapore.

Asked about Diaz post-match, Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com: “Yeah, it’s good. The boys have to perform, the situation in that area is massive – they are all top-class players out there.

“Lucho obviously looks sharp, looks fresh, looks fast. You can really give him the ball and the outcome [is] something will be there, either he provides something or he can finish it off for himself.

“He had one situation where in the end the finish is not perfect, but the movement today… he was completely free in that moment [and] if he could calm down there then he can choose left or right [corner].

“So, how I said, a lot of good things.”
