For those who don't know, the story is based on the book series by Michael Connolly and 2011 movie starring Matthew McConaughey. It follows a former addict and lawyer named Mickey Haller (played by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo in the series), who operates out of the trunk of his eponymous Lincoln Town Car. The first season was based on the second book, The Brass Verdict, since the film was inspired by the first. This new season is based on the fifth novel, titled The Gods of Guilt.

The Lincoln Lawyer season three picks up right where the previous installment ends, with Mickey investigating the murder of Gloria Dayton (Fiona Rene), aka “Glory Days,” after she revealed information about the Mexican drug cartel. The two biggest questions: Was her murder an unrelated coincidence? Or was she killed for being a snitch?

One of the best aspects about The Lincoln Lawyer season three is that there’s no shortage of action. First, there’s the Glory Days investigation, which will likely span the entire season. Then, there are the smaller cases that are typically solved in one episode—like Eddie’s (Allyn Moriyon) car hijacking fiasco.

Not to mention, Mickey also has loads of interpersonal relationships with friends, family and clients that each feed into the bigger storyline, ultimately creating never-ending drama.

Unlike previous installments of The Lincoln Lawyer, this new season feels personal. Not only is he investigating the murder of someone he knows, but he also feels somewhat responsible for her death. And if I’ve learned anything from seasons one and two, it’s that Mickey will stop at nothing to get answers—especially when it comes to this personal attack on Glory Days.

The more personal nature of this season shouldn't come as a huge shock. In an interview with Netflix’s Tudum, co-showrunner Dailyn Rodriguez previously revealed, “This one is personal, because it’s a client that he actually really cared about and thought she had gotten out of that life and out of danger. Mickey very much is [wondering], ‘Did he have something to do with this? Could he have done more to help her?’”
