Lazio Set To Present New Stadium Project to Roma Municipality

Lazio are reportedly on the verge of requesting a meeting at the municipality to present their new stadium project.

The Biancocelesti are eager to have their own ground, rather than sharing the Stadio Olimpico with their arch-rivals Roma, as it’s been the case for decades. Hence, Lazio have identified the currently-defunct Stadio Flaminio as the best option on the table. Over the last few months, the Biancocelesti have been accelerating their plans to renovate the stadium.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport (via Calcio e Finanza), Lazio president Claudio Lotito will be looking to schedule a meeting in the municipality of Rome to discuss the matter with city officials. This could ensue over the next few hours. The source considers it a significant move on the club’s part, signaling a serious will to move forward with the project.

The Roman newspaper believes the project is almost ready, and it will have an “architectural and organizational value”. The club believes owning a stadium will be instrumental in boosting the club’s finances, following in the footsteps of the likes of Juventus, Udinese and Atalanta.
