Welcome to Sportstar’s LIVE coverage of the Kolkata Knight Riders vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru IPL 2024 match being played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

RCB 12/0 in 1 Over

Kohli starts off in style, smacks Harshit Rana’s first delivery through forward square leg for a FOUR!!!!! A single and a dot ball follows. A single next as du Plessis gets on strike. Another single follows. A short one next that goes for a dot. SIX!!!! Kohli pulls it over backward square for a maximum.

RCB needs 223 runs to win

A tough task at hand for RCB. Kolkata always had the run rate but the wickets dented the momentum a little. Shreyas Iyer along with Andre Russell and Ramandeep Singh took the side to an above par total. Faf du Plessis at Toss said this is a chasing ground. His batting unit will certainly be tested for that now. The run chase coming up shortly.

KKR 222/6 in 20 overs

Yash Dayal to bowl the final over. FOUR! A wide delivery and Russell manages to slice it over backward point. FOUR again! Russell pulls it through mid wicket. Lineups

KKR: Phil Salt (wk), Sunil Narine, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Shreyas Iyer (c), Rinku Singh, Ramandeep Singh, Andre Russell, Venkatesh Iyer, Mitchell Starc, Varun Chakravarthy, Harshit Rana.

RCB: Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis (c), Will Jacks, Rajat Patidar, Cameron Green, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Mahipal Lomror, Karn Sharma, Lockie Ferguson, Mohammed Siraj, Yash Dayal.

TOSS - RCB

Royal Challengers Bengaluru wins the toss and opts to bowl.

Faf du Plessis: We will chase. This is probably a chasing ground, always has been. We have three changes - Green and Siraj come back, so does Mayank Dagar. We know if we do a few things back, the momentum can be back and we do have the firepower.

Shreyas Iyer: We know how the wicket plays, we would have loved to bowl as well. We’ve tried to keep things simple, it’s not about how you start, it’s about how you end, just stick to the basics. We are playing the same team.

Pitch Report

Graeme Swann: Most of the pitch looks flat but there’s one big chunk where it’s dry. The grass has been removed. It’s around the spinner’s length and they could exploit the patches. Otherwise, this pitch has plenty of runs on offer. With this heat, the captain winning the toss should opt to bat first.
