Taste Of Nostalgia: Recreating KFC’s Little Bucket ParfaitsSugarbutt Sweets

See those?! Those are cake jars and they recently started a conversation that threw my friends and I back about two decades. They reminded us of something delicious and special from our pasts.

Last week, we had a catered company lunch. Dessert for that lunch was provided by Sugarbutt Sweets, which is located in Owensboro, Kentucky.  Sugarbutt is a staple at the Owensboro Regional Farmers' Market and the cake jars are among the many delicious offerings they serve and sell. We had some of those cake jars available at our company lunch and town hall.

KFC'S LITTLE BUCKET PARFAITS

After twisting the lid off mine, I was instantly reminded of the Little Parfait Buckets that Kentucky Fried Chicken used to have. Do you remember those?  I definitely do.

So does MASHED. A couple of years ago, the popular online site celebrated gone-but-not-forgotten KFC menu items. #2 on their list? The Little Bucket Parfaits! If you loved them like I did, you can probably still picture (and taste them). They were served in little plastic containers and they had a foil lid you could just pull off to reveal all the deliciousness. My favorite variety was the Chocolate Creme Little Bucket Parfait. It was SO good.

It had a crushed up graham cracker crust. That was topped by a layer of chocolate creme (or chocolate pudding). The pudding was topped by a layer of whipped cream. The whipped cream was topped by chocolate sprinkles.  Yes, I know. That sounds insanely good. They were! Simple, but satisfying.

Kentucky Fried Chicken also offered the Little Bucket Parfaits in other flavors as well. I specifically remember a strawberry version. MASHED says there were also lemon and fudge brownie parfaits.

HOW TO MAKE KFC'S LITTLE BUCKET PARFAITS AT HOME

While you can no longer purchase KFC's Little Bucket Parfaits in the restaurants, you can certainly re-create them at home. The ones from Sugarbutts are really tasty. I also found a great recipe (and some more tasty Little Bucket Parfait memories) at CookieMadness.net.

I also found this video on YouTube from Gramma Mamm!
