Polokwane City head coach Phuti has dropped somewhat of a bombshell over the future of highly-rated attacker Oswin Appollis after City’s goalless draw against Kaizer Chiefs.

Rise and Shine collected a valuable point away from home as they helped Amakhosi to a 0-0 draw at FNB Stadium on Saturday.

The draw keeps within touching distance of a spot in the top eight, an overachievement for the DStv Premiership newbies. Behind their impressive debut season has been the contribution of players like Appollis.

The speedy attacker has contributed six goals and five assists and is linked to a move away from Polokwane, with Chiefs and Sundowns report keeping tabs on the Bafana Bafana international.

However, Speaking to media after the match, Mohafe appeared to allude that City would not accept an offer from a South African team from the services of Appollis.

"You have to have constant communication with your players, with Appollis it’s no exception," Mo/hafe said about Appollis' motivation.

"He (Appollis) is so level-headed and whenever you take him aside and talk to him, he understands. He is a boy who still wants to go into football and I think he is on the right track.

"He is a national asset because of himself, he is a national asset because of Polokwane City and he is a national assent because of the team that he is coming from (signed from).

"So I think the commitment that he has is the one that is driving him and the motivation that he wants to go elsewhere, is the driving force for him.

"Not going elsewhere around the country, but going elsewhere abroad, that’s what is driving him.

Asked directly if the club had already received an offer from clubs abroad, Mohafe insisted that an offer from abroad would be preferred.

"No, that one I don’t know, I don’t know if he has an overseas offer," added Mohafe.

"But what I was saying is that if the offer comes, it’s not going to be local. It has to be abroad."

Appollis joined City at the start of the on a three-year deal from lower division side Pretoria Callies.

With two years still left on his contract, City are under no immediate pressure to sell, but will be aware that the upcoming window could be their best chance to cash in on the in-demand 22-year-old and re-invest the proceeds into bolstering their squad.
