SuperSport United and Kaizer Chiefs have announced their starting lineups for their Carling Knockout Cup round of 16 match at Peter Mokaba Stadium.

It’s been 10 years since SuperSport United last tasted League Cup success. Matsatsantsa are hunting their lost friend who they had a good relationship with years back, having won the trophy in 2014 and lost in the final in 2016.

Gavin Hunt and his troops were known for being cup specialists, but that has been the case in recent seasons and they haven’t won a trophy for the past five years.

Meanwhile, Chiefs aim to end their 10-year trophy drought. A rejuvenated Amakhosi might be building, but a trophy to celebrate the 80th birthday of Dr Kaizer Motaung is what they are looking for this season.

The Carling Knockout Cup could be their short-term goal in this. They won’t have it easy as they haven’t done well in this competition in recent years having last reached the final in 2015 when they lost to Mamelodi Sundowns.

In the last 10 years Chiefs faced United once in this competition, in 2018, and Amakhosi were victorious with Ramahlwe Mphahlele scoring the only goal of the match.

Here is how they line up:

SSU XI: Goss, Mobbie, Rapoo, Sanoka, Okon, Morris, Ndlovu, Moralo, Ayer, Pule, Dzvukamanja

Subs: Mbanjwa, Baloyi, Lakay, Jansen, Mbangossoum, Hlatshwayo, Poggenpoel, Mahlangu, Mahgezi

Chiefs XI: Ntwari, Frosler, Miguel, Dortley, Cross, Zwane, Maart, Shabalala, Sirino, Duba, Chivaviro
