Allegri, fans, distraught red card reaction: Three Juventus-Genoa ...

18 Mar 2024

Juventus goalkeeper Mattia Perin put his head in his hands when Dusan Vlahovic was sent off in a home game against Genoa, while Bianconeri ultras insulted ordinary fans but were booed when they chanted for Massimiliano Allegri.

It was a strange Sunday in Turin as Juventus collected a disappointing 0-0 draw against Genoa at the Allianz Stadium, receiving boos from their own fans.

Football Italia was among the accredited media in Turin and now brings you three things you didn’t see by watching the game on TV.

Juventus-Genoa: what you didn’t see on TV: Fans have different views

It was not the first time that this had happened, but this time it was more loud and clear than usual. Juventus’ ultras in Curva Sud chanted Allegri’s name right after kick-off, but ordinary fans in other sections of the stadium booed them. Juventus ultras hit back after the half-time whistle when most supporters booed the players rather than supporting them. At that point, Juventus ultras insulted the other fans, by chanting: ‘You are a shi**y public.’ Supporters in Curva Sud kept supporting the team for the entire match but appeared to be asking for clarification from the players after the final whistle.

Juventus-Genoa: what you didn’t see on TV: Allegri unhappy

Juventus boss Allegri was really unhappy and stormed off the pitch keeping his head down at half-time and after the final whistle. He never sat on the bench during the game, screaming as much as he could to make himself heard by players. He was particularly unhappy with Federico Chiesa in the first half, but, yet again, this is not really news in Turin this season, as the coach and the Italian star seem to have different tactical ideas. Allegri lost his temper during a post-match interview with Sky Sport Italia and explained at a post-match press conference that he had to reply to ‘somebody who wanted to replace the coach.’

Juventus-Genoa: what you didn’t see on TV: Reaction to Vlahovic’s red card

Dusan Vlahovic received a red card for dissent in the final minutes of the game and will be fined by Juventus. Mattia Perin and Carlo Pinsoglio, two of the most experienced Juventus players, followed the final minutes of the match standing in front of the Juventus bench and when Vlahovic was shown a red card, Perin looked distraught and put his head in his hands while Vlahovic was entering the tunnel. Juventus players had looked irritable throughout the match. In the first half, Gleison Bremer argued with Genoa strikers, while captain Danilo came face-to-face with Italy international Mateo Retegui after less than ten minutes.
