A ballistics expert says there is no evidence to suggest a link between a cartridge found at the venue of the EFF's fifth anniversary celebrations in Mdantsane in 2018 and a firearm taken in as an exhibit.
JC de Klerk, who has more than 40 years of experience in ballistics, took the stand as a defence witness in the East London Regional Court on Tuesday in the firearm discharge trial of EFF leader Julius Malema and his co-accused bodyguard, Adriaan Snyman.
Charges against the two emanate from a viral video of Malema firing what appeared to be a rifle in front of a large crowd of people at the EFF's fifth birthday celebrations at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium in Mdantsane on 28 July 2018.
