The search for missing Joshlin Smith continues in Saldanha Bay, with Western Cape police deploying their dog unit following community reports of a suspicious smell emanating from nearby bushes.

Joshlin has been missing for over two months and despite extensive efforts, including investigations that extended as far as the UK, authorities remain committed to finding her.

According to EWN, Western Cape Police Commissioner Tembisile Patekile said that police are actively pursuing all leads provided by the community, acknowledging the challenges of sifting through various information without yielding substantial results.

Joshlin’s mother, Kelly Smith, along with her boyfriend and two other suspects, is currently in custody awaiting trial at Pollsmoor Prison in connection with the disappearance.

Concerns have arisen about the circumstances surrounding Joshlin’s disappearance, with reports suggesting possible motives related to drug use and allegations of offers to sell the child for muthi.

The Citizen reported that David Louw, a Saldanha Bay resident and former employer of Kelly Smith, noted significant changes in her behaviour linked to drug use, indicating potential links to methamphetamine psychosis.

Joslin’s biological father, Jose Emke, residing in Springbok, suspects that the disappearance might be linked to drug-related debts accumulated by Kelly and her boyfriend.

The search for Joshlin Smith remains a top priority for law enforcement.
