Users of Meta-owned WhatsApp from across the world have reported problems with both sending and receiving messages. Some users are also reporting issues with other Meta services like Facebook, Instagram, and Threads.
Meta-owned WhatsApp is suffering from a major disruption on Wednesday, with users of the messaging app from across the world reporting issues with both sending and receiving messages.
It is unclear what is causing the problems at this time, but according to Downdetector, which monitors problems with websites and apps, there have been over 10,000 reports over a short period regarding WhatsApp, indicating that the problem is widespread.
Some users are also reporting issues with other Meta services like Facebook, Instagram, and Threads.
The last time WhatsApp suffered a significant blackout was in April of this year.
That outage came several weeks after users of Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and Threads were locked out of their accounts for a couple of hours. That outage did not impact WhatsApp. The previous major outage on WhatsApp was back in 2022 when the service was offline for two hours.
Meta has not yet released an update or comment on the outage.
