Simone Inzaghi is desperate to help Inter Milan talisman Lautaro Martinez regain his form amid a stuttering start to the 2024/24 campaign.

According to Corriere dello Sport, as reported by FCInterNews, Inzaghi will heavily rely on El Toro in the coming weeks to inspire his long-awaited comeback.

Lautaro Martinez was the architect of Inter’s landmark 20th Scudetto last term.

With 24 Serie A goals, the Argentina international won the Capocannoniere award.

In addition, his stellar exploits earned him an admirable seventh place in the Ballon d’Or race.

However, the 27-year-old has been slow out of the blocks this season.

Yet to score a league goal at Giuseppe Meazza, Martinez has only tallied three in eight top-flight appearances thus far.

But it’s worth noting that his strikes gave Inter six points.

Following a game-winning brace against Udinese, he bagged a match-winner against Roma on Inter’s last Serie A travel.

That’s still a far cry from his devastating form in 2023/24.

With Inter trailing table-topping Napoli by seven points, today’s fixture has all the makings of a ‘must-win’ affair.

Therefore, Inzaghi will bring on his heavy hitters from the first minute.

Marcus Thuram will line up alongside Martinez, meaning Marko Arnautovic and Mehdi Taremi will start on the bench.

But while the French forward is firing on all cylinders, his partner is still searching for his best form.

As for Inzaghi, he hopes that continuity could help Martinez rediscover his scoring instincts.

Given Napoli’s formidable form and Juventus’ decent start under Thiago Motta, Inter desperately need their star at his best.

Now that the Ballon d’Or distraction is out of that way, it’s time for Martinez to focus on his performances.

Tonight’s match against Empoli could prove a turning point.

However, Inter must bear in mind that their hosts have only conceded once in four home league games this term.
