Inter Milan Coach Pleased With 3-1 Serie A Win Vs Parma: 'Only ...
Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi has “only one regret” after his team cruised to a 3-1 Serie A win over Parma.
The coach spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, after the match. He also gave his thoughts on the upcoming Club World Cup.
Inter took three points against Parma this evening.
The Nerazzurri had a feeling of needing to get the win after their match against Fiorentina last weekened was postponed. That postponement left them with some catching up to do.
But Inter reacted well against Parma this evening.
The Gialloblu are hardly straightforward opposition. They’ve beaten the likes of AC Milan and Lazio in Serie A this season, and drawn against Fiorentina and Juventus.
However, goals from the likes of Federico Dimarco, Nicolo Barella, and Marcus Thuram were enough to give Inter the win over the newly-promoted Emilian team.
A late own goal from Matteo Darmian meant that it was not another clean sheet for Inter.
But overall, the Nerazzurri got the result that they came for.
Inter Coach Simone Inzaghi Only Has “One Regret” After Serie A Win Vs Parma“The goals that we scored were great goals,” said Inter coach Inzaghi after the match.
He also said that Inter captain Lautaro Martinez “has to keep going the way he has been” despite the Argentine’s failure to score this evening.
“In the ninetieth minute he tracked back as the captain,” Inzaghi noted.
“The only regret for us is having conceded the goal,” the Inter coach said. “Because the team didn’t deserve to based on the performance and how they stuck together on the pitch.”
However, Inzaghi didn’t blame Darmian for the own goal. “He was angry,” the coach said. “He’s a professional.”
“But the error leading to it started earlier than him,” the Inter coach argued.
“Matteo is probably the player least culpable for it.”
Meanwhile, Inzaghi described goalscorer Nicolo Barella as “extraordinary.”
“He’s had a great season,” the Nerazzurri coach was full of praise for Barella. “Last season was his best since I’ve been coach, even if he scored and assisted fewer goals than before.”
Of the suddenly in-form Joaquin Correa, Inzaghi said that “For me, the player we all know is back.”
“He has a lot of competition in attack,” the Inter coach noted. “Taremi and Arna both deserved to come on, but I wanted to leave Lautaro on so he could find his goal.”
“Correa has to keep going like he has been,”
And Inzaghi also gave his thoughts on Inter’s participation in the Club World Cup next summer. “Clearly we’ll try to do our best,” he said.
“But if I’m honest, my first thought was about what the guys have done over the last three and a half years.”
“It had been ten years since we’d been in the Champions League round of sixteen,” the Inter coach noted.
“Being in the Club World Cup is a source of satisfaction that we can share with everyone.”
