All eyes will be on the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad when India take on Australia in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 final on Sunday.

The IND vs AUS cricket match is scheduled to start at 2:00 PM IST and will be available on live streaming and live telecast in India.

This will be the second time India and Australia will clash in this edition of the ICC ODI World Cup. The two teams played each other on October 8 and India won by six wickets. Australia were bowled out on 199 before KL Rahul and Virat Kohli rescued India after a top-order collapse. 

India ended the league stage with nine wins out of nine matches and then beat New Zealand by 70 runs in the semi-finals. Centuries from Kohli and Shreyas Iyer in the semi-final helped India post an imposing 397/4 before Mohammed Shami’s seven-wicket haul ended New Zealand’s innings on 327.

On the other hand, Australia lost their opening matches against India and South Africa but claimed victories in their remaining seven league games. The Kangaroos defeated South Africa in the semi-finals by three wickets, chasing 213.

Though Australia have won eight of the 13 matches played against India in the ODI World Cups, three of the previous four contests have been won by India.

In the ODI World Cup knockouts, India will face Australia for the fourth time. India lost the 2003 World Cup final by 125 runs, ousted Australia in the 2011 quarter-finals and lost the 2015 semi-finals by 95 runs. 

However, Australia have a perfect record against India in the finals of the ICC events. Apart from winning the 2003 World Cup final, Australia also beat India in the ICC World Test Championships final earlier this year.

Australia are also the record five-time ODI World Cup champions, having won the trophies in 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2015. Meanwhile, India won the titles in 1983 and 2011. 

The World Cup final between India vs Australia will see some personal battles. Kohli vs Mitchell Starc will be one of them. Kohli is in red-hot form and has been the pillar of the Indian top order.

A century from Kohli in the semi-final helped him become the first man in ODI World Cup history to score more than 700 runs. He is the top-scorer at the 2023 ODI World Cup with 711 runs and will shoulder the responsibility of holding the Indian top-order against the likes of dangerous Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins. Leg-spinner Adam Zampa has also been impressive for Australia in the middle-overs.

The Indian bowling line-up, meanwhile, has Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja. All three are in the top 10 wicket-takers list in the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Glenn Maxwell, David Warner and Steve Smith for Australia and Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill and KL Rahul for India have been among the runs as well. The IND vs AUS final will be a contest between two balanced sides.
