Gujarat Titans vs Mumbai Indians, IPL Qualifier 2:  Mohit Sharma took a fifer as Gujarat Titans blew away Mumbai Indians by 62 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday to book a spot in Sunday’s final against MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings. Earlier, Shubman Gill battered the MI bowlers as he scored his 3rd 100 of the season as Gujarat Titans posted 233/3 at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday. Gill, who played like he was in a video game, got his ton in just 49 balls and went on to finish with 129 runs, courtesy of 7 fours and 10 maximums.

Earlier, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to field against Gujarat Titans. The toss was delayed due to rain and took place at 7.45 PM and the match started at 8 PM. Both teams made changes as Mumbai brought in Kumar Kartikeya for Hrithik Shokeen while Gujarat drafted in Josh Little and Sai Sudharsan for Dasun Shanaka and Darshan Nalkande.

Five-time winners Mumbai Indians are on a high after thrashing Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator, but as they now face Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad, the defending champions can well be considered favourites going into Friday’s Qualifier-2.

Hardik Pandya’s team missed the first chance to make the IPL final when they went down to Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk and will hope that home advantage works for them this time. They will also be buoyed by the fact that they beat Mumbai Indians by 55 runs when the two sides met at the Narendra Modi Stadium in the league phase.

But Rohit Sharma’s side have clicked into gear since then, winning six of their eight games since. In the return fixture against the Titans at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai Indians prevailed by 27 runs.
