Girona's winless run goes on after draw at Celta
:Girona were held to a 1-1 draw at Celta Vigo on Sunday after substitute Iago Aspas cancelled out Yangel Herrera's opener, as the visitors' winless streak extended to four LaLiga matches.
Having gone toe-to-toe with Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona for much of last campaign before finishing third, Girona sit 12th in the LaLiga standings on nine points from eight games.
Celta moved to ninth place with 10 points ahead of the remaining weekend fixtures.
Girona dominated possession and took the lead in the 38th minute when Venezuelan midfielder Herrera headed in a cross from Dutch defender Daley Blind.
Girona goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga was hardly called into action as Celta went into the break without a shot on target at the Estadio de Balaidos.
Captain Aspas brought the game to life, however, equalising in the 81st minute with a composed finish after Williot Swedberg laid off the ball for him. It was the 37-year-old Aspas' 501st game for Celta.
"I'm happy and grateful to the people, the fans, the children. For me it's a gift every game I play in front of my people...," Aspas said.
"I saw the ball on the edge of the area, and those are the kinds of shots I like.
"I'm of a certain age, but I like to play every game and be a protagonist, just like 20-year-olds."
Girona lost defensive midfielder Oriol Romeu early in the match due to injury and Blind also went off ahead of Wednesday's Champions League home clash against Dutch side Feyenoord.
