Felix Nmecha celebrates “dream” Germany debut vs. Hungary
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha lived out a dream debut on Tuesday as Germany drew 1-1 vs. Hungary in its Nations League Group A finale.
Having already topped the group with a match to spare, Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann was in the mood for rotation and made nine changes to his XI from the weekend — when Germany blasted Bosnia and Herzegovina away, 7-0.
Nmecha was one of the beneficiaries as he stepped in for club teammate Pascal Groß alongside Bayer Leverkusen destroyer Robert Andrich. And he came away from the match with an excellently taken goal — poached home at close range after a corner and a parried header on target from another teammate, Nico Schlotterbeck.
“Of course you dream of a moment like that,” Nmecha said of his debut goal in comments captured via DFB.de. “Playing for Germany is enormous, I am just happy.”
The 23-year-old ex-VfL Wolfsburg star has only featured as a rotational player for the Black and Yellows this season, but will hope to have impressed enough to continue getting call-ups to the national team.
