It was a bloody morning on Friday the 13th when two women were shot in Bonteheuwel and Bishop Lavis, respectively. The one woman died on the scene while the other was rushed to hospital. 

In the first incident a 19-year-old woman was shot and killed on the corner of Juniper Street and Jakkelsvlei Avenue at approximately 06:15. 

According to police spokesperson Sgt Samantha Adonis the deceased was last seen walking with three unknown men before being killed. "She had one gunshot wound to the head," she said.

"The assailants fled on foot and have not been arrested. We are asking people with information to come forward and assist the police in the investigation."

In the second incident at 09:55 a 20-year-old woman was hit by a stray bullet in Olyfberg Street in Bishop Lavis. "She has a wound to her left side," said Adonis. "She is in a stable condition and has been transported to the hospital. At this stage it is not clear who the target of the shooting was, but we will welcome the community's help in identifying the shooter."
