Santiago Giménez says he is “living a dream” at Feyenoord
After leaving Cruz Azul, striker Santiago Giménez quickly became one of Feyenoord’s key players due to the large number of goals he put into his account from minute one. Recently, the Mexican national team player made fans even happier as he explained that he feels very happy and comfortable in his second season in the Eredivisie.
“What I am living is a dream, but I never imagined it would happen this way, all so fast, it had been a few years since there was a [Mexican] transfer to a European club; to reach the senior national team at the age of 19, to be in the eyes of other European teams, is something that never would have crossed my mind, or not so fast, now I am living a dream and it is much more than I had expected”, the player said in an interview with TUDN.

On the other hand, the striker clarified that he feels very happy to be an idol for young fans. “It is something beautiful, I love children and for me they are the most important thing, they are the ones you have to set an example for, because they are the next generation and they can see you as an example, for me it is one of the top prospects in life,” he explained.
“I always try to be an example for them, because I know that we were all children and I always admired a player and many times it was [important] to see how they behaved away from the pitch, so I have to be responsible because I know that I am an example in their eyes,” he added.
In the current season and once again, Santiago Giménez is fighting for the top scorer title in the Eredivisie and he has 19 goals so far, just three behind Luuk de Jong, who is the leader with 22 goals after 23 games played. The title looks like a long shot for Feyenoord, who are a massive 10 points behind leaders PSV and remain unbeaten at this stage of the season, having only dropped points twice in the entire campaign.
