Champions League debuts for Gerard Martín and Sergi Domínguez
The two young defenders appear for the first team in the competition for the very first time against Monaco in the Stade Louis II
A special night for Sergi Domínguez and Gerard Martín with both young players making their debuts in the Champions League for the FC Barcelona first team.
The Stade Louis II in Monaco was the venue for the two defenders who were both last season playing in the Primera Federación, the third tier of Spanish Football. Both entered the fray in the 80th minuet against Monaco but were helpless to prevent a 2-1 defeat for Hansi Flick's team.
The first appearance in the Champions League comes after Gerard Martín made his league debut on 17 August against Valencia and Sergi Domínguez two weeks later in the win over Valladolid.
Martín has made five appearances now for the first team, one in the Champions League and four in La Liga. Centre back Domínguez has a Champions League appearance to go with his league debut last month.
