Lewis Hamilton has asserted he is not second-guessing his decision to join Ferrari next year amid a recent pecking order switch-up.

Mercedes, Hamilton's current squad, started the 2024 campaign on the backfoot as its struggles for form in the current era continued.

However, the Brackley-based squad has turned its form around at recent events, with Hamilton taking his first podium of the year on Sunday at the Spanish Grand Prix.

While Mercedes has improved, Ferrari has slipped backwards in the order and has now gone back-to-back races without a trip to the podium.

When asked if he was having second thoughts over his shock decision to depart Mercedes, Hamilton told media including RacingNews365: “No, not at all.

“I mean, firstly, I love Mercedes. I've been with Mercedes since I was 13 and I'll always be a fan and supporter of Mercedes.

“And my job this year, right now, is to work as hard as I can with the crew that I have, with the people back at the factory to try and move and develop the car in the right direction.

“So ultimately, whatever course and trajectory the team is on for next year, for example, there are things that I've hopefully been a part of and be proud of being a part of. My job will start next year at the other team who I think are doing a great job.”

Hamilton points to Ferrari's Monaco win

Ferrari started the year in strong fashion and appeared to be Red Bull's closest competitor in the opening races before is recent slump.

At the Monaco Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc sealed a race victory - an achievement that Hamilton pointed out when asked about its dwindling form.

“I think they've had a couple of difficult races, but let's not forget they had a race win in Monaco.

“I can't tell you what is wrong with their car and why they are in the position they're in today.

“But they did bring an upgrade here, and I think they are definitely progressing. So yeah, but it doesn't make me second guess my decision at all.”
