Max Verstappen beat his rivals driving with grit and gallantry and Montreal. The errors of George Russell, Lewis Hamilton, Lando Norris and the McLaren pitwall also did not help much their chances of unseating the Flying Dutchman and his RB20 from the top step of the podium. Fortunately for Red Bull Racing, Ferrari underperformed, despite another poor performance from Sergio Pérez.

According to previous reports from Weather.com, rain is not likely for FP3 or qualifying. The probability of rain on Sunday is much higher. If so, it will be the second consecutive Grand Prix with inclement weather after the chaotic and fun race in Montreal.

The Barcelona track continues to be a reference for the teams due to the need for a high aerodynamic load configuration, making the efficiency of the chassis of the different teams relevant. On the long main straight, the engine becomes relevant and turns 5, 6, 7, 9 and 10 will test the car's behaviour at low and medium speeds, making this circuit the perfect barometer to measure the performance of the cars. This will become more noticeable as the vast majority of teams will be bringing updates to try to gain ground on the others, in what is a fierce development battle.

With the first two hours of practice behind us, the teams and drivers have only one hour left to make the necessary set-up adjustments before the relevant sessions of the race weekend in Spain begin.

In FP1 and FP2 the teams were able to lay the foundations for the configuration they will use for Qualifying and the Grand Prix. Throughout the last remaining hour of free practice of the weekend, teams will want to find the balance between the optimal setup for Qualifying and that of the Grand Prix.
