The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool will be chasing Pep Guardiola's side, but just as fascinating will be the race for Champions League places, with more teams than ever before having designs on top-four finishes. Chelsea remain big-spending, Manchester United's latest rebuild continues and both Tottenham and Newcastle will expect improvements this year - yet it was Aston Villa who snared fourth last term.

Meanwhile, it's Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town who made it back to the elite after promotion last year and each will have hope they can make it more than a one-year stay. Follow the latest live action from the Premier League below:

Everton FC 2 - 1 Crystal Palace FC

17:03

Everton have come from behind brilliantly to beat Crystal Palace 2-1 for their first Premier League win of the season. Things didn't start too well with a bleak first half that saw Palace snatch the lead in the 10th minute as Guehi poked past Pickford following a Lacroix head down. In fact, Everton heads were down for most of the rest of that period, yet Palace didn't take advantage of their momentum. Early in the second half, Sean Dyche's team looked transformed, and were immediately inspired by MOTM McNeil as he notched the first of his brace in the 47th minute. Young rolled it to him from the right, and he did the rest, curling a superb strike past a helpless Henderson from around 25 yards out. With Everton tails up, McNeil scored his second seven minutes later - latching onto a fine Harrison right-sided ball with the help of recovering Nketiah, before blasting home at the left-post. Stunned, the 0.85 xG Palace ultimately struggled to find a route back into the game, and Everton succeeded with an xG of 0.91, showing intent until the end. Now, Everton sit 15th and ready themselves for Newcastle at home. Palace are 17th, and continue their search for a win. However, high-flying Liverpool are next for them. Thank you for joining us today, goodbye!

FULL-TIME: EVERTON 2-1 CRYSTAL PALACE. Well, we go a little further than the kick, and the final whistle shrills to signal a huge win for Everton.

16:54

Eze takes and Henderson heads it wide! Pickford readies himself for the roar of the crowd as his goal-kick should be one of the last kicks of the game.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

Everton vs Crystal Palace

16:54

Pickford wastes time while taking the late free-kick and gets a yellow for his efforts.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

16:54

Palace keep looking to go forward, yet Mateta is a little too heavy-handed and fouls Tarkowski in a battle of the giants.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

There will be four minutes of added time.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

16:48

Munoz intercepts a poor corner from Doucoure before Henderson hoofs clear.

Substitution Adam James Wharton William James Hughes

Everton vs Crystal Palace

16:47

Mykolenko crosses after a charging run down the left from Ndiaye. It's cleared, before Gueye shoots and Palace block again before Doucoure is tackled for a corner on the left side.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

16:45

Calvert-Lewin picks up a yellow for arguing his offside case with referee Madley. Needless, but anything to run the clock down.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

16:45

In the second of the double-change, Mangala comes off for James Garner.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

16:44

Doucoure breaks in behind after a fine pass from Calvert-Lewin. He breaches the box and has to shoot, yet Lacroix is there brilliantly to poke it away!

Everton vs Crystal Palace

16:41

Substitution Dwight James Matthew McNeil Idrissa Gana Gueye

Everton vs Crystal Palace

16:39

Eze dodges and weaves with the ball in a central-right pocket of space, yet finds his effort blocked well by Tarkowski. The ball falls to Schlupp who puts it in the stands.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

16:37

Palace just need someone to connect! Eze sweeps a lovely ball forward to Munoz at the right-post. He heads it down, yet nobody is there to tap home and Everton clear!

Everton vs Crystal Palace

16:35

McNeil drives down the left and slides in Calvert-Lewin. He drives to the left byline, yet crosses for no one! Young tries to keep it alive but it ends up going out for an Everton throw on the right with Lacroix's intervention.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

16:34

A frustrating afternoon for Nketiah comes to a close. He's replaced by Jeffrey Schlupp for the final 20 or so minutes as Palace search for a goal.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

16:34

Palace look to strike back here and Sarr makes positive inroads on the right byline. He drives and crosses low with Mateta lurking. However, Tarkowski is brave to slide in and put it behind for a corner. Of which, Tarkowski clears before Doucoure blocks an effort from range from Eze.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

16:31

Everton are looking for an insurance goal here. It helps that McNeil has created 22 chances this season, more than any other player in the Premier League. If only they could be finished...

Everton vs Crystal Palace

16:28

McNeil's in-swinger from the right goes deep, yet Calvert-Lewin can't head on target, nodding wide.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

16:28

Young and Calvert-Lewin are boisterous on the right side, before the experienced defender slips in the forward. Munoz recovers and Everton have a corner on the right.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

16:25

Munoz then fouls Doucoure as Everton halt Palace's offensive progress.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

16:24

Nketiah is a played in nicely on the left by Eze, yet his ball across to Mateta is blocked off before he tries a shot, that again, is blocked.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

16:23

Eze takes the free-kick from the left, yet Pickford collects well and tries to distribute out to Harrison. After brief miss-control, Mitchell gets it under and passes out from left-back.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

16:21

Palace win a corner on the right. Wharton lifts it over to the back post, yet it looks like Nketiah back there who can't get it down. He chases the loose ball and is eventually fouled by Mykolenko.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

16:21

Substitution Daichi Kamada Ismaïla Sarr

Everton vs Crystal Palace

16:20

After a flurry of Evertonian threat, Palace have moved back into custody of the ball. The men in blue, however, are remaining staunch in their structure as Eze and co. try to pick the lock.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

16:19

McNeil takes, yet the delivery ultimately results in a goal-kick for Henderson.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

16:19

Everton win another free-kick, this time on the left wing. Again, Nketiah has fouled Mangala somewhat needlessly.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

16:18

With this goal, McNeil has now scored two goals in a game for the first time since 8th May 2023 against Brighton.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

16:15

GOAL! McNeil's at the double to flip this game on its head! Pickford's free-kick is cleared only as far as Harrison on the right who crosses deep. McNeil is there and the former Burnley man brings it down with the help of a recoevering Nketiah and then smashes it home from the left-post.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

16:14

There have been a number of bitty fouls in the start of the new half. The latest sees Nketiah throw Mangala to the floor in the centre of the park as frustrations flair.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

16:12

Everton have fire in their belly now and the McNeil equaliser has Crystal Palace slightly rattled. The hosts come forward in numbers but the Eagles are able to clear just as Dominic Calvert-Lewin turned and looked to shoot inside the area.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

16:10

McNeil has now scored two goals in 12 appearances in the Premier League against Crystal Palace.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

16:07

Assist Ashley Simon Young

Everton vs Crystal Palace

Substitution Jesper Grænge Lindstrøm Jack David Harrison

Everton vs Crystal Palace

16:01

Everton worked up an xG of 0.63 in the opening exchanges, while Palace operated around a 0.49 xG. It's not been a game for the ages, with two sides tentative in their search for their first Premier League win of the term. However, the second-half can at least be expected to show a little more intent. Crystal Palace are unbeaten in their last seven league matches when leading at half-time (W5, D2), while Everton have a record of W0, D0, L2 when trailing at the interval. Will we see these trends continue?

Everton vs Crystal Palace

15:56

Half-time at Goodison Park sees Crystal Palace lead 1-0 thanks to Marc Guehi's 10th-minute opener. Palace peeled away from their hosts after cagey opening exchanges, with Guehi doing the same to Everton's defenders as they tried to defend a right-sided corner. Wharton took it low to Kamada. He was able to get it back out to his fellow midfielder, before a deep cross to the back post was nodded down by Lacroix. An undetected Guehi then flicked past Pickford from close range for his first goal since April 2023. With an end-to-end nature very present in this game, the Toffees looked to get back into things, yet found the impetus of Calvert-Lewin and McNeil stifled, ultimately seeing them fail to register a shot on target. Mateta and Eze lurked with intent, with the latter registering four shots in the opening period. However, Everton managed to quell the danger, notably around corner-kick chaos that once saw Pickford bundle a looping deflected Nketiah effort off the line. Everton have failed to really get going, Palace haven't taken advantage of that yet.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

15:50

HALF-TIME: EVERTON 0-1 CRYSTAL PALACE

Everton vs Crystal Palace

15:47

There will be one minute of added time here.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

15:46

Wharton has a speculative slash at goal with a volley through the bodies from the edge of the box, yet Pickford saves easily. In the next phase, Eze and Mateta interchange on the edge of the box with the midfielder firing an eqaully tame effort straight at his England team-mate.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

15:44

Munoz nearly finds space down the left after Mateta plays it over to him. However, the crucial head of Ndiaye brings the ball home to Pickford smartly.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

15:42

Eze flights in a lovely cross to the back post and Lacroix dives for it. Pickford is present too, and the two collide with the result being a goal-kick to the hosts.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

15:41

Mateta is turf-bound after Tarkowski chops him down to end a counter-attack. Luckily for the defender, the tackle inside the box saw the ball go first. Yet, after a couple of heated challenges that followed, Madley stops the game as the Frenchman steadily gets to his feet and Palace have a free-kick on the left flank.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

15:40

Mykolenko surges down the left as Everton build up well. His smart cross over finds McNeil... but the header squirms comfortably wide right of Henderson's goal.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

15:39

Everton's poor attack is reflective in the statistics. Before this one, Dominic Calvert-Lewin had made more off-the-ball runs than any other player in the Premier League this season (173). However, just 39 of these had been into the opposition box, the second lowest percentage of any of the 24 players with 100+ runs (22.5%).

Everton vs Crystal Palace

15:36

Ndiaye and McNeil offer smart interplay on the left side of the box and Guehi blocks for a corner on that side. It's whipped in, yet Lerma nods it away strongly. Back to Pickford it goes, before Mitchell steps in to wallop out for a throw.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

15:36

It's really been a case of 'nearly' for Everton's offensive efforts. Formative moves look good, yet that final touch is missing. They've yet to have an effort on target in this game.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

15:33

Palace enjoy a spell of possession now, yet it's been clear in this one that an end-to-end period is just around the corner. As we type that, Everton retain the ball, and McNeil nearly slides in Calvert-Lewin but Guehi deals with the pressure well for Henderson to claim.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

15:32

Lerma steps into the back line really well for Palace, as they looked a tad disjointed there. Calvert-Lewin looked to hold up the ball before spinning away, yet the Colombian looked like he had been playing centre-back all his life with a composed interception and pass off.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

15:29

Well, in near-identical fashion to their earlier goal, a deep ball to the back post this time sees Lerma flick it down and Munoz poke it on goal, yet it's blocked and goes behind! In the next corner from the left, an Eze miss-kick finds Nketiah, who fires on target. It's blocked by Tarkowski and ricohets upwards, before looping down on the goal-line for Pickford to scramble away. Young then clears as Kamada swipes. It's a foul to Everton as a collective sigh of relief gusts around Goodison.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

15:28

Palace react to this pressure as Eze strides forward into the hosts' half. He then tries to pick out Mateta's run in behind, yet Mykolenko slides in well and the visitors have a corner on the right.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

15:26

Flashed across the face! That's better from Everton! McNeil races to the left byline and fires a low cross in. Somehow, it misses Calvert-Lewin, Guehi and Henderson and goes out for a throw. Promising signs for the hosts.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

15:26

McNeil offers a lovely early corss from deep on the right side. Calvert-Lewin was lurking and it's headed behind for a Toffees corner on the left. After this, a skirmish in the box breaks out with head-tennis galore as Everton can't connect. Mykolenko then gets a tame effort off and Henderson claims.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

15:25

Everton look enterprising down the right, yet Palace recover bodies back well. Doucoure brings it in-field and plays in Mykolenko and his speculative off-balance effort from range is an easy save for Henderson.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

15:21

Everton need a response here. They have lost both of their Premier League home games so far this season. Only four times in their history have they ever lost their first three at home in a single league campaign, though one of these was last term (also 1958-59, 2005-06 and 2008-09).

Everton vs Crystal Palace

15:20

Calvert-Lewin is looked to be in down the right side, yet he tangles with Lerma and eventually stumbles it out of play for a Palace goal-kick. That could have been an Everton free-kick there. The striker thinks so anyway...

Everton vs Crystal Palace

15:19

According to the statsheet, Crystal Palace had 69.0% possession over the opening 15 minutes of this game.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

15:18

Palace build out with Wharton and Munoz looks exciting on the right wing. He tries to carve out space with the help of Kamada, yet two of his crosses are blocked in consummate fashion by the Toffees.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

15:17

Following a left-sided free-kick from McNeil, Everton nod it back from the right post. It comes to Calvert-Lewin, yet he's under it and it flies straight up. With another free-kick, Palace head clear, before a corner is punched out with Branthwaite lurking. The big man went down under the challenge of Wharton and wanted a penalty there.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

15:14

Everton have conceded two goals in the first 15 minutes of the first half, only West Ham United (four) and Ipswich Town (three) have conceded more in the Premier League this season.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

15:12

Assist Maxence Guy Lacroix

Everton vs Crystal Palace

15:11

Eze fires... yet it ricochets off the head of Tarkowski, before Wharton fires the rebound wide right. It's been deflected and Palace have a corner.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

15:10

A lofted ball finds Mateta on the right-central channel, completely free. He drives to the byline and plays a low ball into the box looking for Eze, yet Everton clear. In the next phase, Eze runs through the centre and looks to shoot from the edge of the box, yet Doucoure tactically pushes the England international to give away a cynical free-kick in a dangerous area.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

15:08

Nketiah looks industrious as he switches over to the left wing for an attack. He tries to cross, yet Tarkowski lunges heroically and it comes back off the Palace forward for a Pickford goal-kick.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

15:05

Everton have moved back onto ball, yet formative buzzing from flank to flank with McNeil is quickly cut out by Palace and Mateta nearly streaks away on the counter. Tarkowski has to play it back to Pickford cautiously.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

15:04

Palace, adorned in their yellow strip today, look bright in the sun. Lacroix looks to play it long from the back, yet his ball to Nketiah on the right flank is too long. Everton don't keep possession for long though, and Glasner's side can come again.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

15:02

Eze plays it back to Guehi as Palace kick us off.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

15:02

We've had 'Z cars', and we've had the teams read out. Now, the captains meet with today's official Andy Madley, and it looks like the visitors will get us under way.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

15:01

The players are in the tunnel as Palace go through their final preparations ahead of their first Premier League game to take place outside of London so far this season. Everton, desperate for a win, will have slight confidence here today. After winning four of their first six Premier League away games against Everton (L2), Palace are actually winless in their last nine visits to Goodison Park in the competition (D4 L5).

Everton vs Crystal Palace

14:53

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner makes one alteration to the side that drew 0-0 against Manchester United last weekend. Jefferson Lerma comes in to the midfield, replacing the injured Chris Richards as the Eagles shift from a 3-4-2-1, to a 4-3-2-1.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

14:48

Everton make two changes to the side that drew at Leicester last time out. Star centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite returns for his first start of the season, while Vitali Mykolenko also re-enters the fray with James Garner and Michael Keane dropping out.

Two sides meet in this one at Goodison Park, chasing their first win of the league season. In their last outing, Crystal Palace played out a 0-0 home draw against Manchester United to extend their winless start to the season to five (W0 D3 L2), putting them in 16th spot on three points. Everton sit in 19th place on one point after five matches, with their last game a 1-1 draw against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium. Will another draw be on the menu this afternoon? Last season's meeting on Merseyside saw a 1-1 scoreline with Jordan Ayew's second-half strike cancelled out by Amadou Onana in the 86th minute.
