A HUGE WIN FOR SWITZERLAND
Switzerland’s dominant first-half display earned a 3-1 victory over Hungary in Group A at Euro 2024.
In just his second appearance, Kwadwo Duah opened the scoring after a brilliantly timed run allowed him to latch on to Michel Abischer’s through ball and beat Peter Gulacsi.
Switzerland continued to push for a second and were rewarded just before half-time with Abischer's curling effort landing in the bottom right-hand corner.
Hungary came out fighting after the break and got themselves back into it when a cross from captain Dominik Szoboszlai found the head of Roland Varga.
But it ultimately wasn’t enough, and Breel Embolo rounded off the win with a volley over Gulacsi’s head in stoppage time.

SWITZERLAND WIN IN COLOGNE
The referee blows for full time and it's a well deserved victory for Switzerland who now move level on points with hosts Germany in Group A.
They dominated the first half and despite conceding after the break managed to hold on.

Switzerland have done it!
A terrible header from Fiola fell straight to Embolo who volleyed the ball over Gulacsi's head to round off a big win.
There will be five minutes of stoppage time here which is more than enough time for another goal.
Only a couple of minutes of normal time remain, but there will be a few minutes added on.
Switzerland are starting to waste time and the referee isn't afraid to get his yellow card out as a result.
HUNGARY GIVING IT EVERYTHING
Hungary are doing absolutely everything to try and get an equaliser here with Switzerland defending in numbers.
It's going to be a dramatic final few minutes here and it could go either way.
SWITZERLAND LOOKING TO HOLD ON
Switzerland will be hoping to hold on with just over ten minutes remaining here, but it could be a dangerous strategy if they allow Hungary too much time on the ball.
A big chance for Switzerland from a corner with defender Schar towering above everyone else, but he could only head it wide.

That goal has been coming based on the last few minutes.
An inch perfect cross from captain Szoboszlai finds Varga who gets ahead of his man and heads home from a couple of yards out.
Hungary with their biggest chance so far. A great ball in from Szalai finds Varga who is completely unmarked but he places his header wide.
Hungary are playing with a greater sense of urgency here as they look to try and get back into the game.
Szoboszlai is unsurprisingly looking the most dangerous threat for them as he looks to whip balls into the box in the hope of finding a team mate.
SWITZERLAND MAINTAINING CONTROL
Switzerland have continued where they left off in the first half and are looking comfortable in possession. The next goal will be crucial here.
Switzerland with an early chance in the second half as Duah gets a shot a way in the box but Gulacsi saves well.

We are back underway in Cologne and Hungary can't hold back in the second half if they are going to get something out of this game.

Switzerland were dominant in the first-half and deserved to double their lead just before the break.

SWITZERLAND LEAD AT THE BREAK
Switzerland have dominated the first half against Hungary in Cologne and deservedly lead 2-0.
A perfectly timed run from Duah saw him latch on to a through ball and open the scoring, before Aebischer, who assisted the first, beautifully curled home a second just before the break.
Hungary have a lot of work to do.

A magnificent goal right at the end of the first half to double Switzerland's lead.
Aebischer was looking for a pass on the edge of the box but decided to go it alone and beautifully curled the ball past Gulacsi into the bottom right hand corner.

A FREE HEADER FOR HUNGARY
A great free kick into the box finds Orban who has a completely free header. He's unable to connect well with it and it's an easy save for Sommer.
SWITZERLAND PUSHING FOR A SECOND
Switzerland want a second goal before the break and are committing men forward with several balls into the box.
Vargas makes it through after a scramble in the box but Hungary clear well.
SWITZERLAND LOOK COMFORTABLE
With half an hour gone in Cologne, Switzerland will be very happy with how they've started.
They look in complete control so far with Hungary creating few chances and even struggling to make the most of their set pieces.
