Two of the greatest goalscorers in recent years have been Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Argentine and Portuguese duo went head to head, year after year as they scored goals for fun and set new heights for how many goals can be scored in a season.

But their records are nothing compared to Haaland's.

Messi, who played for Barcelona until into his 30s, bagged 197 goals in 326 games, while Ronaldo scored 132 goals in 362 games.

The Portuguese superstar played for Sporting Lisbon and Manchester United until he was 24 when he moved to Real Madrid.

One factor to consider, however, is that both Messi and Ronaldo played on the flanks in the early part of their career.

Haaland vs Messi vs Ronaldo

Erling Haaland: 315 games, 260 goalsLionel Messi: 326 games, 197 goalsCristiano Ronaldo: 362 games, 132 goals

That means that Haaland has scored 63 more goals than Messi at the same stage in his career and 128 goals more than Ronaldo.

With 94 of Haaland's goals coming since he joined Man City two years ago, there's every chance that the Norwegian will continue to score goals at an astounding rate as he continues through his career.

Should he stay fit and focused, Haaland may well go down as one of the greatest goalscorers in football history.
