Navy Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing in Florida
A U.S. Navy helicopter made an emergency landing in Florida on Wednesday, officials said.
Several local news outlets in Florida reported that officials from the Volusia County Sheriff's Office were responding to reports of a Navy helicopter that needed assistance and was required to make an emergency landing.
A spokesperson for the Volusia County Sheriff's Office told Newsweek that at around 9:52 a.m. local time on Wednesday, officials from the sheriff's office were "requested to help locate a Navy helicopter that reportedly made an emergency landing in Volusia County."
The reported emergency landing was made east of Florida State Road 11 and North of Florida State Road 40, the spokesperson said.
According to the spokesperson, the Volusia County Sheriff's office helicopter, Air One, "spotted the aircraft on the ground with no apparent damage."
No injuries were reported following the emergency landing, the spokesperson told Newsweek. The spokesperson also noted that the helicopter's emergency landing was not "on or near any roadway."
WESH 2 News reported that individuals on board the Navy helicopter made a distress call regarding transmission issues. The distress call also noted that the helicopter was attempting to land, but they then lost contact, the local outlet reported.
In a post to X, formerly Twitter, Pamela Comme of WESH 2 News shared a photo of where the landing was reported.
"Navy Helicopter made an emergency landing in the Ormond area. We are East of SR-11 and North of 40," Comme wrote. "Volusia County Sheriff's office says no injuries have been reported."
A spokesperson for the Navy directed Newsweek to contact another public affairs official but noted that they were "aware of the situation."

The spokesperson described the incident as a "precautionary landing," to the local news outlet.
Video footage from WESH 2 News showed the helicopter on the ground in what appears to be a large field. Individuals who were on board the helicopter were located outside while waiting for first responders to arrive.
As the video footage continued, some law enforcement officials were seen outside of the helicopter, while others were driving toward the scene.
WFTV news in Orlando, Florida, reported that data from the FlightAware website showed that the Navy helicopter initially took off from a Naval air base in Jacksonville, before making an emergency landing.
