DURBAN - Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema is expected to address thousands of faithful supporters gathered at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban in Durban.

Supporters have told Eyewitness News they want Malema to put forward a compelling case showcasing why his party deserves to govern KwaZulu-Natal.

KwaZulu-Natal, like Gauteng, is set to be the battlegrounds of the 2024 polls.

Malema is delivering the EFF’s manifesto, putting forward his organisation’s vision for the next five years should the electorate vote it into power.

While thousands have already gathered inside the stadium, it's not been packed to its capacity, as usually seen at EFF events.

A supporter said Malema needed to put forward solutions to many issues facing South Africans.

“The issue of unemployment rate that is rising on a yearly basis - we want to hear from the president of the Economic Freedom Fighters as to what is going to happen, [and] what plan does the EFF have to create employment for our people in South Africa.”

Meanwhile, another supporter who’s travelled from Northern Cape said he hopes an EFF government would help fix the province’s ailing healthcare system.

“I’m from the Northern Cape in a small town called Kuruman where we are still using the health infrastructure of the apartheid regime. So, the people are dying there to an extent that any other ordinary person when she or he approaches a hospital, they are actually entering the first gate of heaven.”
