The Canadian artist has a sporting curse associated with him. It began when he started posing in football shirts, with the team's kit he wore then going on to lose their next match.

It then moved onto athletes he posed for pictures with suffering a bad result after their meeting, and more recently has been stars suffering defeat after he's bet on them to win.

So it's not looking good for Sauber, whose rebrand to the 'Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber' was launched by Drake on New Year's Day as he's one of the gambling company's partners.

Reacting to the news, one fan simply replied: "Cursed." Another joked: "That's Sauber f***ed." And a third wrote: "The Drake curse has increased its abilities to F1 now. Let’s see how this plays out for Sauber."

"No wonder it SCREWED UP. BIG TIME. The Drake curse IS REAL," warned a fourth, while a fifth commented: "They weren't cursed enough I guess." And a sixth quipped: "Can't be drake cursed if you’re the worst on the grid."

As alluded to, Sauber can't do much worse than their previous five years racing under the Alfa Romeo name. Aside from coming sixth in the constructors championship in 2022, they've had two eighth-placed and two ninth-placed finishes.

They'll only be known as Stake for two years because in 2026 they'll become Audi's factory team, hence the end of Alfa Romeo's title sponsorship.

It's not the only name change on the grid for the upcoming season, and potentially also not the worst. AlphaTauri are set to go by 'Visa Cash App Racing Bulls' in another shameless sponsor stunt.
