President Cyril Ramaphosa will deliver the keynote address to mark National Day of Reconciliation at Vredendal, sports stadium in the Western Cape today.
There will be several cultural activities including local artists’ performances.
The day came into effect in 1995. It’s aim is to foster reconciliation and national unity in the country.

The theme for the 2024 National Day of Reconciliation is Healing Historical Wounds and Forging New Futures.
The commemoration of the day is intended to foster reconciliation and national unity following the end of apartheid.
It is also geared at building social cohesion, healing and forgiveness.
This year’s event takes place in Western Cape where tensions between farmers and farmworkers are rife in the largely rural farmland.
