Premier League referee David Coote is now under investigation from the FA in addition to the PGMOL.

A video has been circulating on social media since Monday, in which Coote appeared to make disparaging remarks about Liverpool and their former manager, Jurgen Klopp.

While the video remains unverified, the PGMOL took the decision to suspend Coote while investigations were made. And now the FA have also launched their own investigation into the matter.

"We are aware of the matter, and we are investigating it," the FA said in a statement, as reported by the BBC.

His other recent Reds games in charge were when Liverpool beat Brighton & Hove Albion in March, and when they defeated Fulham in January.

The video in question appears to show him making several remarks, including using foul language to describe Klopp, who left Anfield in the summer.

"David Coote has been suspended with immediate effect pending a full investigation," read Monday’s PGMOL statement.

"PGMOL will be making no further comment until that process is complete."

Former Premier League referee Howard Webb is chief refereeing officer at PGMOL, but it remains to be seen whether he will take part in the investigation into Coote.

The FA have released no further statement as to how they will handle their own investigation.
