1) Jacques Kallis

It can be officially said that Jacques Kallis is a legend in international cricket. The only all-rounder who was equally effective with both bat and bowl. In the history of South African cricket, Kallis is the leading run-scorer for the team combining all three formats.

He has collected 25422 runs in 513 international matches at an average of 49.45 and a strike rate of 56.39. Kallis has also slammed 62 centuries and 149 fifties in his career. When it comes to his bowling, the swing master has 572 wickets to his name in 513 international fixtures at an economy of 3.55. He is the fifth leading wicket-taker for South Africa combining all the formats of cricket.

2) Shaun Pollock

When we talk about tactical supremacy in pace attack, Shaun Pollock always comes as a part of the discussion. He is the leading wicket-taker for South Africa across all formats of the game.

In 513 fixtures across all formats of cricket, Pollock has collected 823 wickets at an economy of 2.91. Pollock’s supremacy was his ability to swing the ball at a slow pace. He was not the bowler who could stun the opposition with his pace, but he could still scalp wickets with his accurate swing.

3) Dale Steyn

When Shaun Pollock retired from international cricket, there was a major void in the South African squad. However, Dale Steyn stepped up to the occasion and became the pillar of the team against every big opposition. Dale was known for his pace and he was one of the most feared bowlers from 2004-2020. He is the 2nd highest wicket-taker for the team combining all the formats of cricket.

Dale has 697 wickets to his name in 263 international fixtures at an economy of 3.78. He saw many ups and downs in his career because of injuries but always came out on top whenever the opportunity was given.

4) AB de Villiers

AB de Villiers was the first of his kind in South African cricket history. He was known as Mister 360 Degrees because of his ability to hit the ball with some unexpected short in some unexpected corner of the ground.

De Villiers became South Africa’s T20 specialist and the most feared batsman in the world. He was the 2nd highest scorer for the team in all formats of the game. AB de Villiers has scored 19864 runs in 415 international fixtures at an average of 48.33 with a strike rate of 74.61.

5) Hashim Amla

With AB De Villiers, Hashim Amla made his debut for South Africa in the same year. He was known for his calm and composed style of batting and was a Test specialist who could win matches for the game in any situation.

Hashim Amla eventually became the 3rd highest scorer for the team in international cricket combining all formats of the game. In 346 international fixtures, Hashim Amla scored 18553 runs at an average of 46.49 with a strike rate of 64.79.
