Zimbabwe Leads All-Time Hollywoodbets Cosafa Cup Winners ...

5 Jul 2023

Despite not participating in last year’s Hollywoodbets Cosafa Cup, Zimbabwe continues to hold the top spot as the team with the most victories in the competition’s history. However, Zambia aims to surpass them in the upcoming 2023 tournament, set to take place in Durban starting Wednesday.

In previous competitions, Zimbabwe has emerged victorious in 35 out of their 62 matches, three more victories than Zambia and five more than South Africa.

Zimbabwe also holds the impressive record for the most goals scored in the Hollywoodbets Cosafa Cup, with a total of 106 goals. They are the only team to have reached a century in the competition to date. Zambia, with 91 goals, is closing in on this milestone.

Unfortunately, Zimbabwe’s Warriors won’t be able to participate in the 2023 Cosafa Cup due to their Fifa suspension. However, there is optimism that they will make a strong comeback in 2024.

Zambia holds the record for the most draws, with 22 in their history. This is two more than Malawi. On the other hand, South Africa has the fewest defeats, having lost only seven of their 56 games outright. Two of those defeats came at the hands of Zimbabwe, while other teams like Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, and Tanzania have also claimed victories against Bafana Bafana.

In terms of win percentage, Zimbabwe leads the way with a 56% success rate in their matches. South Africa follows closely with 54%, and Zambia with 49%. Angola is the only other team with a win percentage above 40%.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, the Seychelles has struggled the most in the Hollywoodbets Cosafa Cup, managing only one win in their 31 games (D6 L24). However, they achieved this win in emphatic fashion by defeating Mauritius 7-0, which remains the largest victory in the competition.

Lesotho and Mozambique have conceded the highest number of goals, both letting in 74 goals so far. Lesotho’s 74 goals came from 53 games, while Mozambique’s came from 60 games. Malawi follows closely with 71 goals conceded in 59 games.

When it comes to goals conceded per game, the unfortunate title falls on Seychelles, who have conceded 67 goals in 31 matches, averaging 2.16 goals per game. On the other hand, South Africa has the best defensive record, only allowing 0.54 goals per game, with a total of 30 goals conceded in 56 matches.

According to a report by Supersport.com, these statistics highlight the historical achievements and competitiveness of teams in the Hollywoodbets Cosafa Cup.
