Despite having not competed last year, Zimbabwe still head the table of all-time Hollywoodbets Cosafa Cup matches won, though Zambia may have designs of overhauling them at the 2023 competition that will be staged in Durban from Wednesday.

Zimbabwe have won 35 of their 62 games in past competitions, three more than Zambia and five ahead of South Africa.

Zimbabwe also hold the record for the most goals scored with 106, the only team to have reached a century in the competition to date. Again, Zambia have that milestone in their sights, having netted 91 times previously.

Zimbabwe’s Warriors will not be involved in the 2023 Cosafa Cup due to their Fifa suspension, but there is a real hope they will be back in 2024.

Zambia have been involved in the most draws with 22, which is two more than Malawi, while South Africa have the fewest defeats, having only lost seven of their 56 games outright.

Two of those defeats have come to Zimbabwe, with Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia and Tanzania the others to get one over Bafana Bafana.

In terms of win percentage, Zimbabwe lead the way, having claimed victory in 56 per cent of their games, followed by South Africa (54 per cent) and Zambia (49 per cent). Angola are the only other side above 40 per cent in terms of win percentage.

At the other end of the scale, the Seychelles are the side that have struggled the most with only one win from their 31 games (D6 L24), but that came in handsome fashion as they thumped Mauritius 7-0. That remains the largest victory among any team in the competition.

Lesotho and Mozambique are the sides to have conceded the most goals with 74 each, though Likuena’s have come from 53 games and The Mambas’ from 60. Malawi is just behind both of them with 71 goals conceded in 59 games.

In terms of goals conceded per game, that unlucky statistic falls on Seychelles, who have shipped 67 in 31 for an average of 2.16 goals per match.

The stats for fewest goals per game conceded belongs to South Africa, who have let in just 0.54 per match (30 in 56 games).
