Clearwater Mall jewellery store robbers caught

Residents are advised to avoid Hendrick Potgieter and Christian De Wet roads due to an active crime scene at Clearwater Mall.

The mall’s management confirmed that a robbery took place at a jewellery store inside the mall.

Witnesses informed the Roodepoort Northsider that six robbers attempted to flee, but swift action by the police and various security companies led to their apprehension.

According to security officers of SB Security on the scene, multiple gunshots were fired as the robbers attempted to reach their getaway vehicle. Only two managed to escape in the vehicle, heading toward Soweto, but they were apprehended in Dobsonville. The other four were captured outside the mall.
