SuperSport dominated the start of the game getting in good scoring positions and could have taken the lead in the seventh minute through debutant Tashreeq Morris. His close range attempt was deflected by a Chiefs player for a corner and nothing came from it.

In the 12th minute Mdu Shabalala had a chance to put the visitors ahead but the ball was too fast for him. Reeve Frosler took a long range shot two minutes later but that went over the bar.

It was United’s chance in the 21st minute when Siphesihle Ndlovu found Vincent Pule but the latter missed the target. Eight minutes later Wandile Duba after being set-up by Frosler hit the cross bar.

Two minutes from that the hosts won a corner and Chiefs almost conceded an own goal but goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari scrammed to make the all-important save.

Amakhosi had an immediate reaction to that with a beautiful team build up that saw Shabalala set-up Sirino who made no mistake and punished Matsatsantsa to hand Chiefs the opener in the 33rd minute.

Four minutes from that Neo Rapoo fired a thunderous shot Ntwari’s way and the keeper did well to deny him the equaliser. Chiefs were in charge from that point and three times striker Ranga Chivaviro was guilty of missing chances including an open net at the stroke of halftime.

There were no subs from both sides at the start of the second half. Two minutes into the stanza Ndlovu made a run and shot from a tight angle but was denied by Ntwari.

Five minutes later Nasreddine Nabi’s charges won a corner, Sirino took it and captain Yusuf Maart headed home to double their lead.

Chiefs could have tripled the lead just after the hour mark but Chivaviro again missed the target. The Limpopo born forward finally redeemed himself as he scored the third in the 73rd minute from a Duba assist.

United’s problems became worse as Gape Moralo had to take an early shower after getting a second yellow with 10 minutes on the clock.

Ashley Du Preez even made it 4-0 in injury-time after being played through by Edson Castillo.
