Celtic vs Rangers

Celtic host old foes Rangers at Parkhead in Glasgow on December 30 in the biggest game the Scottish Premiership has to offer — and one that could have a huge say on the title race.

Brendan Rodgers' defending champions have a five-point lead ahead of second-place Rangers, but the latter have two league games in hand.

Philippe Clement's side have been faultless in recent weeks, with five successive league wins, while Celtic have lost two of their past four in league action.

Celtic have only lost the Old Firm derby once in the past eight league meetings between these teams, but that defeat came in May this year, when Rangers ran out 3-0 winners. They will look to improve on their record of just two victories in 17 away games against their city rivals.

The Sporting News looks at the key details ahead of this game, including how to watch it across the world, kickoff times and the latest lineup news.

Celtic vs Rangers prediction

Rangers' form is a key pre-game factor for Celtic to deal with despite their advantage at the top of the table at the end of 2023.

However, the duopoly of the two teams means a victory for the hosts could effectively settle the title race before a ball is kicked in 2024, even accounting for Rangers' games in hand.

Celtic have already beaten Rangers this season — with a 1-0 victory at Ibrox in September — and this game could have Rodgers on the road to another trophy in Glasgow.

Prediction: Celtic 2-1 Rangers
