Operations resumed at the Cape Town International Airport on Tuesday morning following the power outage, which saw flights struggle to land or depart.

The two-day outage affected air traffic navigation services, runway lights and airside fire rescue.

Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) confirmed that operations have returned to normal after 01:00, allowing for safe aircraft landings.

“ACSA technicians and specialists are continuing with permanent repairs and restoration of the network. However, we are waiting for a clear window of opportunity to execute the required work.

“Travellers are encouraged to download the ACSA mobile app for LIVE flight information. ACSA apologises for any inconveniences caused,” reads ACSA’s statement.
