Former Leicester City midfielder Khanya Leshabela is currently training with Cape Town City.

Cape Town City chairman John Comitis confirmed that the 24-year-old has been training with the Cape Town-based side since the end of January.

Leshabela was born in Soshanguve but grew up in the United Kingdom where came through the ranks at Leicester City

The former South Africa U/20 player only made one official appearance for The Foxes before he was loaned for two seasons.

His contract with Leicester City ended last year in December.

Speaking to Thabiso Mosia on Radio 2000, Comitis gave an update on the player’s progress.

“Ja, and he’s obviously out of condition so he needs to get himself to a level,” he said as per iDiski Times.

“So we’re working closely with him and he’s got a fantastic football brain. You can’t play for Leicester, even if it’s one game, if you aren’t good enough.

“There is a lot of football in him, we’re just waiting for him to get to the level where he can compete and command a place.”

Leshabela plays primarily as a winger but can also play as an attacking midfielder.
