Pep Guardiola’s City try to stay top fo the Premier League table with a tricky trip to face Bournemouth
Manchester City will try to stay top of the Premier League table when they travel to the south coast to take on AFC Bournemouth this afternoon.
Pep Guardiola’s men are going for an unprecedented fifth title in a row and have racked up seven wins and two draws from their nine league games so far to sit top of the early pile.
But they will be aware that Bournemouth put a serious dent in title rivals Arsenal with an impressive 2-0 win at the Vitality Stadium just a fortnight ago and with injuries mounting, they could be ripe for the Cherries to pick off this afternoon.

Despite putting it out of reach, the winger is denied by the frame of the goal, with the rebound falling kindly to Smith. With the goal gaping, the full-back follows up and somehow skies his effort from six yards out, which keeps the score at 2-0!

Gundogan whips an inswinging free-kick towards the six-yard box, where it nodded away by Zabarnyi, but only as far as Kovacic 25 yards from goal. The Croatia midfielder attempts an audacious first-time volley but can’t hit the target, sending it high and wide.
Cook’s corner is rather disappointing, with the midfielder sending it over the heads of his awaiting team-mates and directly behind for a goal-kick at the far post.
Senesi’s clearance sparks a Bournemouth counter-attack, with Semenyo again running past everybody down the left wing. He cuts inside looking to test Ederson but Gvardiol closes down the space well and deflects it behind for a corner.
Manchester City move the ball through the lines beautifully, with Silva playing the incisive pass into the penalty area for Nunes, but the winger can’t find the room to dig out a shot before Senesi whacks it away.
Guardiola is having a word with the fourth official while Haaland gets to his feet and trudges off the pitch, with the animated coach not happy with the lack of a card for the tackle. The good news is the striker looks okay to continue, and he will retake his place once he gets the attention of the referee.
