AC Milan have been left deeply angered by the saga that led to the postponement of the Bologna game and are considering legal action, a journalist has claimed.
At one point Milan had plans in place for four different trips to four different cities on Friday showing how much they wanted to play the game, and yet it was eventually postponed. Bologna’s CEO agreed with the decision, but it would be fair to say Milan do not as Paolo Scaroni spoke about seeking damages.
According to Antonio Vitiello’s latest column for MilanNews, Milan feel ‘trampled and damaged’ by the postponement of Bologna-Milan. Mayor Lepore’s decision not to play the match even behind closed doors has ‘created a dangerous precedent’, but above all it has called into question the regularity of the league.
Internally at Milan ‘everyone feels penalised’ by the decision to postpone the match four months down the line, and ‘above all for having lost two key players like Theo Hernandez and Reijnders’ in view of tonight’s match against Napoli.
“Fonseca is bitter, the management are too, president Scaroni has made it clear that he wants to get to the bottom of this story and take legal action,” Vitiello adds.
“At the moment the situation is being examined by lawyers, but the damage to the club is great and Milan is right to defend itself in every venue. It probably should have shown its claws a little earlier, when things had not yet been decided. Now the damage is done.”
