At the BET Awards 2024 on June 30, excellence in music, sports, television, and movies was celebrated — but during culture's biggest night, the stars also made sure that fashion was included in the conversation.
Every year, the biggest names in Black entertainment show off their style credentials on the blue carpet at the BET Awards, and this year was no different. While the actual stage saw huge moments like Will Smith's return to rap with a performance of his Bad Boys: Ride or Die track "You Can Make It" and Usher picking up a Lifetime Achievement Award, the likes of Ice Spice, Halle Bailey, Victoria Monét, Tyla, and Tinashe showed us all how it's done on the carpet. They rocked trends we'll no doubt be bookmarking on our TikTok FYPs in the months to come — think barely-there nude dresses and fits that are more sculptural masterpieces than clothes.
Leather and studs got their punky moment in the sun thanks to Bailey and Monét's structured looks, while the innovation of cut-outs continued to flex their enduring powers on the likes of Tinashe and Ice Spice. Elsewhere, Keke Palmer kept the early 00's Destiny's Child dream alive as she posed alongside her new girl group, DivaGurl. The foursome sported matching white and pastel blue fits, proving that, while Y2K may be making way for a late 2010 revival, there's still gas in those frosted blue diamante sunglasses. Then, of course, there's Colman Domingo, who continued his streak of never meeting an event he couldn't slay, this time in one of Ferrari's (yes, that Ferrari) high gloss suits.
