Serge Gnabry says Bayern Munich left with “bitter” taste after 3-3 ...

Bayern Munich were very close to coming way from Eintracht Frankfurt with three points and a hard-fought 3-2 win, but Omar Marmoush scored a stoppage time equalizer to send the Rekordmeister into the international break with a headache instead of jubilation. The Egyptian international was the star of the show for Frankfurt with his brace and assist, but Bayern dominated that match in virtually every department, but were once again left kicking themselves for giving up such easy goals on the counter attack.

When all was said and done, Bayern had registered 13 shots on target to Frankfurt’s six, and it was the center-back pair of Kim Min-jae and Dayot Upamecano that scored two of Bayern’s three goals, both with their feet — something that is a bit of a collector’s item. Michael Olise’s effort in the 53rd minute was worthy of being the winner for Vincent Kompany’s side, but it was not to be the case with Marmoush’s stoppage time goal sinking the dagger into Bayern’s side in what was almost a carbon copy of the first two goals the Eagles scored.

After the match, Serge Gnabry, who was given a start by Kompany, described Bayern leaving Deutsche Bank Park with a bitter feeling. They did everything right on the attacking end of the pitch, and probably should have come away with full points, but giving up goals on the counter was once again their weak point.

“Frankfurt didn’t have many chances, but they scored. We had the game under control. It’s bitter that we conceded a goal so late. At the end of the day, we have to go home with the win. That’s bitter for us, but that’s football. It didn’t look like anything was going to go wrong at the end. The two points we dropped hurt us, but we are playing good football and hopefully that will pay off in the long run,” he explained to DAZN Germany (via @iMiaSanMia).

Gnabry’s sentiment matches that of Kompany’s, who after the match, said he felt his side’s performance, for large parts, against Frankfurt was “fantastic.” He made a point to remind Archie Rhind-Tutt during his post-match interview for ESPN+ that Bayern had dominated against both Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen despite not being able to get full points against either of them. There is clearly a work in progress and Bayern still go into the international break at the top of what is a very tight Bundesliga table in the European places.
