Helped by Harry Kane's hat-trick, Bayern Munich crushed Mainz 8-1 in a Saturday German Bundesliga match.

English star Kane, showing a brilliant performance, scored the opener in the 13th minute at Munich's Allianz Arena. Seven minutes later, his German teammate Leon Goretzka doubled the lead.

Then Mainz's Nadiem Amiri scored outside the area to narrow the gap to one, 1-2.

Kane was on the scoresheet again as the 30-year-old controlled the ball in the area to score. Bayern led the first half 3-1.

German forward Thomas Muller was unmarked to finish in the six-yard box after Jamal Musiala found him, 4-1.

Kane sent a perfect pass across the field for Musiala as the German star dribbled the ball into the area to put the ball into Mainz’s net.

Returning from an injury, Bayern midfielder Serge Gnabry made it six, scoring by heel after Goretzka's cross.

In the 70th minute, Kane scored Bayern's seventh goal in the match via header, capping off his hat-trick.

Goretzka made it eight in stoppage time, scoring a header at the far post.

Second-place Bayern are now seven points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen, who have 64 points in 24 matches.

Xabi Alonso's Leverkusen, who are still unbeaten, are set to host Wolfsburg on Sunday.

On Friday, third-place Stuttgart beat Union Berlin 2-0 to boost their points to 53 in the league table.
