Barcelona have not been able to register Dani Olmo after his €55m move, which could rise to €62m with variables, but are still being linked with moves for other players. The latest is German central defender Jonathan Tah, who is coming off the back of a stellar season with Bayer Leverkusen.

It looked for some time as if the 28-year-old would be signing for Bayern Munich this summer, but the deal appears to have collapsed – it is not yet clear which party had a change of heart. Tah though appears to be considering a contract renewal with Leverkusen, who returned to the side after being left out by Xabi Alonso initially.

Hansi Flick: "We've had a good start to the season and we have to keep going. Vallecas is a smaller ground than others, we're going, as always, to try to win."

Sport say that Barcelona are interested in signing Tah if Eric Garcia departs amid interest from Girona. Garcia has been linked with a €15m move, while the Catalan daily say that Tah could be available for as little as €20m with his contract up next season. Manager Hansi Flick has worked with him before at the German national team. They also say that Tah is not the only option on the table, while signing a right-back and moving Jules Kounde into the middle could be a strategy too.

It seems somewhat far-fetched that Barcelona could consider such an outlay given their current situation with Olmo remaining unregistered so far. Should the Blaugrana get a new sponsorship deal with Nike over the line, or manage to sell shares in Barca Vision for a third time, that could free up money in their salary limit, but until that happens, all talk of further additions appears deeply hypothetical.
